I don't get it. With both Bing and Google I found it as a free download on multiple sites (even on Microsoft's own website), but I seriously don't get what's so unusual about it.

    Post backwords compatible?

If you're looking for backwards compatibility Windows Embedded Handheld 7 (based on WM6.x) is scheduled for the second half of 2011.
  6. F

    Post WP7 Porting/Tool Development

On the bright side, if WP7 can't be ported to the HD2, WM 6.x is part of the Windows Embedded division now (Windows Embedded Handheld), and MS is going to continue development on it (Windows Embedded Handheld 7, which the Moto ES400 will be upgradeable to, is coming in the second half next year).

    Post WP7 Porting/Tool Development

WP7 should be close to RTM now, saying as though Microsoft's giving away a WP7 device in their "I Need This App" contest. Maybe whoever wins will be able to provide a dump of the OS or system info and drivers (below is my entry and I would definitely do that, by the way). Oh, and although I...

Post [10JUN] HTC Mondrian Windows Phone 7 concept [Diamond3/Touch Pro3] [iPhone 4 added]

I think the HD3 concept should have the front of an HTC HD Mini, the back of a more square-angeled HTC Legend, and stereo speakers, all in addition to your other concept specs. It would be awesome!

    Post NBH_WM7_AKU_6176_WWE_for_HTC_MONDRIAN

This device is based the QSD8650A/B (both are mentioned) chipset, which supports both CDMA and GSM, and is the only Snapdragon chipset which will get the new 1.3GHz Scorpion core. That is probably why HTC isn't using a GSM-only Snapdragon; if they did use the GSM-only QSD8250, then the device...

    Post NBH_WM7_AKU_6176_WWE_for_HTC_MONDRIAN

Yes, but manufacturers tend to do that with the Snapdragon chipsets; I think something similiar might have happened with the HD2. Well anyway, this device going to AT&T doesn't make very much sense; why would they want a phone that supports GSM and CDMA? Also, if it really is going to AT&T...

    Post NBH_WM7_AKU_6176_WWE_for_HTC_MONDRIAN

Okay, I'm sorry if I'm totally off with this, but, about the drivers, I think we have a universal agreement that WP7 is based on some version of CE, correct? Well wouldn't the preinstalled HTC drivers be CE drivers technically? Maybe they'll at least get WP7 to boot in some form.

Oh, I see now! I can't believe I didn't try that! Well, anyway, this is pretty interesting. Especialy files like 'FileBrowser.exe,' FileBrowserCM.dll,'and 'NativeInstallerHost.exe' could be of some great use to us. ;)

    Thread Extracting Native APIs? Possible...maybe.

Okay, so since the unlocked emulator has a file manager and task manager, does that mean it would be possible to extract them and run them on an actual WP7S device? And if that was possible, would it also be possible to extract the Native APIs from these apps? I'm fairly certain that they use...

    Post CE6 or CE7?

As Engadget once heard from a Microsoft interview, WP7S is based on the same core as the Zune HD (CE6). Plus CE7 isn't even released yet, which means that it wasn't available for use in WP7S last year, when development began. This is just what I've heard.

Post Windows Phone 7 = bad iPhone

Well I personally love Windows 7. It was a huge success, and most new laptops ship with it preinstalled. My laptop runs it great, and it is quite stable. Oh, and Windows Phone 7 Series is also awesome; I can't wait until "Holiday 2010." Also, even if it has lost cut/copy/paste (that's really...

Post angry devs stop living in the stone age

If you think about it, WP7S has just about everything a developer could want. These include: A non-GPU app scaler (devs can user just about any resolution they want) A very high list of minimum specs (so they can make high-quality games and apps) XBOX Live (a very big deal, some people may...

Post iPhone 4.0 will have multitasking? WP7, you better have that as well

Although we have heard rumors that WP7S will have preemptive multitasking, if you think about it, the live tiles really defeat the purpose of multitasking. Say you have a (multi-platform) twitter app. In Android, you can leave this open and come back to it anytime and it will be up-to-date...

  26. F

    Post Winmo 6.5.3 or WP7

Well, those who stay with 6.5.3 will pretty much have complete control of it, Microsoft won't really be doing much with it. So, if you really wanted to, you could probably edit the source code, if you knew how. Just a thought.

I know! Why must smartphones always be compared to a simple feature phone!:p I've tried the iPhone/ iPod touch (3rd generation) at Best Buy stores, and, let's just say, they froze more and gave out more errors in 5 sec. than 5 WinMo devices did combined over the course of 2 hours. The...

    Post WP7 minimum requirements

Well I'm sure they could, but Microsoft wants there to be very high minimum specs that developers can expect so that all apps can take advantage of the hardware to its full extent. An example would be the way WinMo apps are now. Most 3D apps aren't very good because the minimum of what...

My Opinion Well I think the reason why few people here love it is because we're the only people who actually used and appreciated Windows Mobile's advanced features. But, unfortunetly, the problem is that nobody (except us) would care if Microsoft did included such features. In fact, they...

Post Microsoft Unveils Windows Phone 7 Series

Well, actually a Microsoft person (don't know what he does) told an Engadget editor that while he was giving him a demo of Windows Phone 7, which was recorded. I think so, that is. It may have been a video from another site or quoted, but I remember Microsoft saying that somewhere.

Oh, yes, and the HTC HD2's proccessor DOES support Windows Phone 7, but I don't think it has the required 4-point touch or search button (I suppose we could use the home key...;)). Edit: I just found out that the HD2 has the correct minimum resolution for Windows Phone 7, WVGA.

Post Microsoft Unveils Windows Phone 7 Series

Well, Microsoft told us why. Flash on smartphones is EXTREMELY buggy, doesn't always work, and when it did work it wasn't very good quality. The only time it worked reasonably was in Skyfire, and the developers didn't get even the Flash player part from Adobe!! Although, it was nice to have...

Does Windows Mobile support coding in C# or C++, and if both, then which should I use? I'm asking this because I'm currently trying to learn computer programming, and I would like to eventually develop for Windows Mobile, but I'm not sure which programming language it supports. I've heard...

Post Breaking! - winmo 7 is not based on wince at all

I think it will be Windows CE based, because CE is Microsoft's only embedded System that supports ARM processors. Also, the latest version of CE (6 R3) supports third party UIs built using Silverlight, which was rumored for WM7. Also, the person might have meant that WM7 won't just be CE...

Just about everything you see in those builds(except IE Mobile and the Titanium home screen) can be skinned by simply installing and applying a 6.5.1 theme. You can...
