From a manufacturer's point of view this *could* work. One standard screen/housing/connections with multiple options of different phones "internals". Interesting idea.

I tried flashing my HD2 back to stock and it just would not work. In the end I used a different SD card that was formatted and only had the leoimg.nbh file on it. I am therefore guessing your SD card can have nothing but the ROM image on it. Hope this helps anyone else struggling.

Perfectly fine to do that. If you want it a bit more organised, create a folder on your SD card called "media" for example. Then create the ringtones/notifications/alarms folders inside that. This will also work.
