You could do that, but I'd recommend against it as it's bootlooping Samsung phones, including ours according to another post in the thread, so I'd recommend against it.

That's already been said, the current only method is downgrading to NC2, run a root exploit such as Towelroot, then use Safestrap to flash a prerooted later version

You're perfectly free to do so once either you're eligible for the OTA or the completely stock tars are posted, but keep in mind it's entirely possible that no exploit will ever be found to root directly

Did you use Titanium Backup or something to freeze it? If so try unfreezing it there. Unless you Odin back to full stock the update will likely fail anyway though, even if you've unrooted. I would wait a day or two, there's a theoretical chance that the method of having root on 4.4.4 will work...
