I had the same issue, "restore defaults" fixed it for me, it seems that the update broke the saved config for the button actions

Its not an error, its a problem with the cable that connects the pen digtilizer to the motherboard, you would need to either get a new one or RMA it, I unfortuantly had to do that :P

More cores active would mean more processing power, and more processing power requires more energy(atleast on the same cpu), so disabling most of your cores would result in better battery life, maybe by a little bit though.

It appears that the person that you lent your nook cracked your screen, you will have to buy a new one or get a new Nook Touch.

You may want to try to boot ClockWorkMod off an sd card(here is a link to a forum post about it) and if that works then you will want to follow leapinlar's post to repair the partitions here

The Nook Color doesnt have a GPS receiver, but what you can do is use a bluetooth GPS unit or hook up another android device with GPS via bluetooth and then share the GPS location using an app.

The app store search will not work on your nook touch, the only way to install apps are either sideloading them or installing them wirelessly using google play on your computer. You may want to use Opera Mobile instead of the basic browser, it would be easier than getting the stock one working.

I do this every time I change my rom if it is running android 4.1 or higher, it speeds up my nook to the point that the lag between applications is almost nonexistent: But instead of the IO squeduler BFQ, I use NOOP, but there may be a better one.

The nook color has been able to charge via any usb cable in CM7 the last time I checked and the Nook charging cable should work, unless if there is a problem with this rom and fast charging. Don't do that, it will shorten the lifespan of the SD card and it would make the nook lag.

I thought the question was which newest rom would run the best, a gb rom will still beat the newer ones in terms of the speed of the device. You may want to stick with gb if all that you are doing is using the picasa app.

You can still upgrade the ram and hard drive on the latest Macbook Pro(non retina). Apple has made it difficult/impossible to switch out the ram and hard drives in other models, but so have other companies that make laptops.

What version of android does your Uncle have running? There have been cyanogenmod 7 running on the Raspberry Pi for a while without any hardware acceleration, the main problem developers are having are getting anything above android 4.0 running without hardware acceleration.
