You don't have to have a data plan just for a smartwatch, a normal phone esim works fine.

Post Question Can I buy the Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic without concerns or isn't it worth it?

All the health stuff is just a gimic. Who needs a watch to tell you are fat/unfit? or need to move around and have a drink, or go for a walk? I go to bed and wake up in the morning. Do I need a watch to tell me whether I actually slept, or what type, don't give a monkeys to be honest. Great...

Post Question Issue with 4G on Galaxy Watch 4 Classic, non Samsung phone

Don't understand this. I couldn't pair my watch with my Huawei phone, but that was because of the known Huawei block. I've therefore decided to pair with another of my phones a Motorola. No issue at all loading a vodafone eSim onto the watch (payg) with the Motorola having a giffgaff sim...

Post Question Receiving txt message to LTE watch number.

I've discovered with the right settings selected in the wear app, as long as my phone is switched on, I still receive txt messages sent to my phones sim number on my watch, as long as my watch is connected to the Internet either by WiFi or LTE. Also I can send a txt from my watch, using the...

Thread Question Receiving txt message to LTE watch number.

I've manage to get a UK Vodafone PAYG sim transfered to esim and loaded onto my watch 4. This works fine receiving and making voice calls, sending txt messages, but it won't received an incoming txt message directly to the watches esim number. Anyone know why not? It was possible on my...

Post Replacement Strap for LG W281

My bands have just failed again after one year. After 4 and a half years, several batteries and straps, that's it, bought a Galaxy Watch 4 LTE.

Post Time to call it a day

Finally the end after 4 and a half years. Yet another strap has failed after only one year. I've just bought a Galaxy watch 4 classic LTE. A good innings though, shame no LG Watch Sport 2.

New battery and brand new OEM straps fitted. So now have an as new watch again. First full charge and have just completed a straight 16 hours until battery save at 15%. That's with nothing turned off, and LTE. Pleased with that.

Post Time to call it a day

I gone and done a U turn. I've purchased on ebay another w281 for only £50. It's the silver grey colour as opposed to the blue black of my current one. I honestly don't think it has ever been worn, mint. Saying that, today, one of the straps split at the buckle, it just fell off my wrist...

I believe that's eSim and not UK compatible. A few choices eSim in the UK available but non that I'm aware are micro SIM unfortunately.

Thread Time to call it a day

After 3 and a half years daily usage, its time to call it a day. About 18 months ago I changed the battery, which gave me a full day on LTE. Shortly afterwards one of the watch straps split, which fortunately at the time a new replacement set where on ebay which I bought. Lately the battery...

Post W280A new cheap on ebay (Usage in Europe?)

I bought mine on eBay, 2 years ago now. It wasn't until I was on holiday in the US with my 280, and it came alive with my UK SIM, I just had to get the 281 when back home. They are nearly 3 years old now, about time alternatives are available, alas they are all eSim that complicates things...

Post W280A new cheap on ebay (Usage in Europe?)

I had the 280 and it did not work in the UK, with any of the 4 network providers. Sold it and bought the 281 instead that I still use today. Been great with latest FW and a new battery. Full day no problem with LTE.

That's pretty amazing, a USB dongle has been talked about, but never seen in the wild I believe! Its been done by WiFi in the past, which is slow.

So true, my watch straps broke resently too but fortunately managed to buy new replacements. So now the watch with new battery, straps, up to date firmware should last until something else suitable comes along.

    Thread Number pad issue

A while ago I noticed that the calculator app I had loaded didn't recognise my touch presses on the lower numbers on the display. Wasn't particularly bothered about this at the time and forgot about it, but today needed to use the numerical keypad for the phone app and the bottom row wasn't...

Post Watch shuts down spontaneously and will not reboot until put back on charger.

Absolutely. Watch now functions as normally with long battery life. Software improvements have improved battery life but as the watch in most cases is two years old the battery has deteriorated not showing the improvements made. Fresh battery and latest software improvements make a big...

    Post Sourcing a new battery

A new battery is a must! I'm getting a constant 7am until 11pm, 16 hours off cradle, with 50% still remaining, and that is with LTE on all day, including everything else too! The combination of new battery, and latest firmware updates has just transformed the usage and battery life. It is a must...

Retiring for the evening and I have 23% remaining after 23 hours off cradle, again with LTE. Now possible to achieve 24+ hours before battery saver at 15%. When I first bought my watch, i'd be lucky to get 8-10 hours with LTE switched on!

An unbelievable second day, after only the battery's second charge cycle. Retiring for the day and after 14 hours usage off cradle, with LTE, 50% remaining. Never got anything like the same battery life with the previous battery before it started to fail. Money well spent and really a simple...

Replaced the battery, the problem has been solved. First day, after first overnight charge, and a solid 16 hours until battery saver at 15% This is with LTE as well. Having had the watch nearly 2 years, the battery life has slowly diminished due to the number of charge cycles, probably 500+, and...

Just replaced my battery. Straight forward job, managed to keep the seal in place too. The only disappointment is that the...

Post LG Sport 280A (AT&T version, unlocked): works in Europe with Project Fi data SIM?

That is maybe the case, and over a year ago when I had the 280A I indeed hoped that the watch could be network band unlocked. However it has never been done, or proved that all the variants have the same hardware but different software. So for me, simply buying the 281 was the answer, and still...

Post LG Sport 280A (AT&T version, unlocked): works in Europe with Project Fi data SIM?

Band B1 (2100) is used by the UK mobile networks, and I tried every UK network provider SIM in my 280A and it did not work. In fact LG themselves for the 280A do not list band B1, they list GSM 850/1900 MHz; LTE Bands 2/4/5 https://www.lg.com/us/smart-watches/lg-W280A-sport

    Post Confirmed Working Carriers

I had the 280 AT&T US Version at first, I bought it from an AT&T store while in New York, it was unlocked from new, and worked with my UK Sim while in the US only. Did not work in Europe. Post Sourcing a new battery

Assuming I can find a BL-S7 battery, how easy is it to strip the watch down to change? My watch is so random with shutdowns and % battery left remaining I am thinking it is all down to the battery after over 18 months daily usage/charging.

Post LG Sport 280A (AT&T version, unlocked): works in Europe with Project Fi data SIM?

The LG Watch Sport 280A does not work in Europe, it supports none of the frequencies. I had this watch initially purchased from AT&T. This still been a problem I've put the watch into boot mode and ran the watch down until it has turned off with no reserve to even attempt to turn back on, then fully charged her back up to 100%. See if this makes any difference. Out of interest I measure the current draw while charging from 0...

Mine did it again today, shut down wouldn't complete boot-up. When home put it on the charger was at 21% battery. Becoming unreliable, really want an alternative with LTE. I understand the new Galaxy smartwatch LTE is being sold by EE in the UK when available, just don't want Tizen or EE!

I also have these same problems from time to time. I have worn my watch everyday for the last 16 months. As I use my watch as my personal phone with SIM card, when it happens, very annoying! There is nothing new on the market with LTE functionality to update it though, that I am aware of.
