Thread Does the official W8 ROM need a specific baseband or anything?

I want to install the W8 ROM on my X8. At the moment the phone is completely stock. Do I need to install a certain baseband firmware for it to work, or do I just go through the normal rooting and flashing process? First time flashing this specific phone and I don't wanna screw it up! Thanks :)

    Thread Xperia X8 vs. Hero?

As the title says, I need to choose between the two. I have the X8 now, but I know someone who'll take it off my hands for a good price, and I'm wondering if it's better to buy the older, but higher spec, Hero? I prefer HTC Sense to Sony Ericsson's UI and the Hero has a superior camera...

Thread Getting rid of the GMail account but keeping the rest of the Google stuff?

Just got an X8 and all is going well, but I prefer the Sony Ericsson e-mail app to the stock GMail one. Obviously I need the Google Account to stay there for the Android Market and such, but is there any way I can just "turn off" the GMail part? Thanks!

Thread Wiping the phone for eBay sale

I'm sticking my G1 on eBay soon. How do I make sure it's wiped properly before sending it off? At the moment I'm thinking I'm gonna wipe the SD, flash Superwipe, then flash CM6 all over again so it's a completely clean phone. Shouldn't be any problem there, right?

Post iPhone to Desire HD switchers

I won't make a judgement based on my G1, I'll make it based on how nice the OS is. If I stick CM6 on it, I'll have Froyo, so it'll be fair. Unfortunately, I don't have the financial resources to purchase two high-end smartphones. However, the guy who won my 3GS was a time waster, so I'm...

Thread Does it have the SD failure issue?

I've read that a lot of people have been having a memory failure issue with Galaxy S phones, but I've also read that different memory which isn't effected by the issue is used in the Nexus S. Is this true? I read the FAQ thread and saw no mention of SD issues, so I assume it doesn't effect the...

Post iPhone to Desire HD switchers

Here's what I'm actually doing now. This update on the DHD that screwed up MicroSD cards and mucked up a bunch of other things started to scare me off a bit, then I saw the Motorola Atrix at CES and thought I should wait for a 2011 Android phone if I'm gonna go down that route. So I've decided...

That update was one massive disaster judging by what I've seen on here. Good to see HTC did the right thing about it.

Post iPhone to Desire HD switchers

The 3GS does have radio hardware, Apple just don't want you using it, and it's hard to hack because there's no drivers for it at all in iOS.

Post iPhone to Desire HD switchers

The guy in that video seemed more concerned with form over function, though to be fair he didn't act biased against the DHD at all and he said it was just his choice, so fair enough to him. I'm prepared for Android not having the same level of polish that iOS has (though it's starting to catch...

Post New system update for DHD!

Sounds like flashing a non-Sense ROM would fix the issues, then. If resetting to factory defaults, from both OS and bootloader level, isn't working for you, then have a go at a new ROM, at least until HTC release an official fix.

Post moving from galaxy s to desire hd (shall i ? )

The DHD is far superior. Bigger screen, better build quality (bye bye cheap plastic, hello unibody aluminium), and faster hardware (latest Snapdragon and 768MB RAM vs. outdated Hummingbird and 512MB RAM).

Post Engadget: Android sends texts to wrong people, murders your family while you sleep

Yeah but they're always biased towards Apple. For example, they took points off the DHD in their review because the battery cover on theirs didn't line up perfectly and because the camera lens was unprotected (even though the way its designed means it won't get damaged), whereas they gave an...

Android Guys are doing nothing but speculating. They could be right, of course, but they don't really know anything we don't. There have been a few people who've noted that they've experienced the bug. It could be confusion caused by user error or the bug that brings up the wrong thread (and...

Post New system update for DHD!

Oh yeah, they got bumped up to 2.1 days before the release of 2.3. A bit later, Samsung released their "ticker" phone with 2.1 loaded on. Meanwhile, HTC has phones running 2.2. I'd say they have a pretty good track record.

Post New system update for DHD!

HTC are actually pretty reliable with Android updates, especially when you compare them to Sony Ericsson and Samsung, both of which ship brand new phones with outdated versions of Android. Hell, last I checked, the X10 Mini was still stuck on 1.6 officially.

Ahh, if the files don't have album art that must mean the HTC Music app put it there. There's probably a setting to turn that off, but I don't have a DHD nearby. I'm sure someone else on here will come along and help with that, though. It's just a case of going through the settings menus and...

You're better off asking that in the development forum. Does the album art show up properly for those music files on other devices? You need to put the APN settings for your network into the phone to make the internet work, but make sure you have a data plan before you do or you'll be paying...

Yeah the hardware's not as powerful, but it's a Nexus, so you get the officially unlockable bootloader and all the updates really quickly. I also hear Samsungs are more reliable than HTCs in terms of hardware faults, unless I'm mistaken. However, it's still hard to resist HTC Sense, the 4.3...
