I updated to Pie immediately, so it's all I've known on this handset. At the time of writing, I've used about one third of the battery, which has delivered almost three hours' screen on time. Battery drain overnight is almost a flatline (XZ1 handset, UK firmware, February security patch)......

I picked up a brand new XZ1 about two weeks ago from amazon, and I'm floored at how fluid it is, certainly compared to the XZ I was using previously. It's running Android Pie without any obvious issues, and battery life is one and a half days easily, with seven and a half hours screen on time...

the available RAM is too weak on nougat, and presumably oreo, firmware...... I can't recommend it unfortunately, unless you're comfortable rolling back to marshmallow and waiving the security updates. You really need 4GB minimum now....

pick up an original sony charging cable - no idea why it makes such a difference, but.........

if you have a look at the product images, the last one requires you to press down in the centre to apply the adhesive, which may answer that for you....... I'm using the smash it protector from amazon which has no bubbles or lifting, as long as you put the time in when applying it...... not...

My phone used to stop charging altogether during heavy use when plugged into the mains, and didn't resume when left idle (you had to unplug and reconnect the charging cable to set the ball rolling again). That's now fixed having updated this morning (UK sim free handset)......

As nougat takes up approximately 50% of the XZ's memory which can't be rooted without unlocking the bootloader, I'd suggesting holding back for three months to see what is released generally. Developer support and third party accessory support are limited for this model, and you'll have...

Wasn't this answered elsewhere, in that the gap is deliberate to allow for expansions and contractions in temperature? We may need to be careful not to become too paranoid with the design, as some will gratuitously return the handsets which may raise the bar for those with a genuine warranty...

The following is intended to be constructive. Upon installing the Rom, I've incurred £2.27 in premium international texts, although in fairness, this has happened when installing Pandemic's Rom too. Is the simple workaround to remove the sim card when installing the Rom, or is this too naive...

dirty install over Pandemic's Amaluna rom worked fine for me, although I wiped dalvik/cache before rebooting - the absence of any browser and the play store were the dealbreakers for me, as my apps had vanished and getting them back needs to be much easier...... no issues getting back to TWRP...

Pandemic, have you definitely decided on your next phone and is there anything we can do financially to sway you? my thoughts don't bind you, but the xperia x performance may be a halfway house between the Z5 and the next flagship to hit the UK and the German markets..... I'm hoping you'll wait...

I did a factory reset before installing version 10 of pandemic's rom - with that installed, I then flashed version 6.01 of this whilst wiping cache and dalvik alone as I thought we were supposed to leave system intact for the scripts to do their thing - my phone's flying over here.......

camera quality in version 10 seemed to be the best I'd ever seen on the Z3 - if that's echoed by others perhaps offer a rollback zip for that .apk on the first page of the thread - other than that 10.5 is running very well......

I had a possible conflict with ds battery saver from the store - no further freezes though since uninstalling that app......

perhaps an obvious point, but remember to untick the lockscreen option in your power toggles to stop anyone bypassing your screenlock, as they otherwise have the option to disable it from the power toggles menu ;)

I had that issue, but try a dirty install when applying V2, i.e. no wipes at all

I also followed the instructions and ended up with a blank launcher, ever after the revised downloads were brought in. I think the rom you're starting from is critical, and the recommended firmwares are too broad in that there has to be another issue. One option would be to include a foundation...

just to add that there's a free app on the store called ampere, which will allow the less tech savvy out there to measure their charging speed objectively without having to wait for a full charge cycle, i.e. you can switch connectors and adapters on the fly and see immediately what the benefits...

it boots, but I only had access to the menu buttons and the drop down menu - everything else was a black screen and I couldn't access any apps or the settings menu generally (d6603, clean install, philz touch recovery, wipe cache and wipe dalvik).......

to make it work properly just go dirty and follow what G-Face said above..... for some reason a dirty installation works better than a clean one, and I've tried both......

try the general section where there's an official thread on the first page, although due to xperifirm, a free software download allowing you to access almost any sony firmware direct from their servers, most firmwares are no longer uploaded - the UK generic on xda may not be the most up to date...
