You can boot twrp from fastboot and flash either 4.4.4 or 5.0 back onto your tablet. Look at the thread in Android development for more details on flashing the stock images using twrp

I have the GPE and live in France and I was able to get the OTA update from 4.4 to 4.4.2 without any issue when I took it out of the box. Had my Dad send me one from the USA but got killed on the Custom charges so be careful importing it, best if someone can bring it back in their suitcase.
