    Post Oukitel WP7 General Discussion

everyone, have you found that google pay etc works with unlocked bootloader, custom ROM etc, or is this non functional after root/unlock? In the past I have had phones that will no longer run such functions due to compromised security etc.

Thanks, I will check out the instructions for A10 install. I note that pretty much all the sites talking about the phone mention wireless charging. Eg, https://unite4buy.com/specs/OUKITEL-WP7/ I took mine down to a shop and got a partial response from a wireless charger - eg, it detected the...

    Post Oukitel WP7 General Discussion

Hey thanks for the quick reply. 1) No wireless charging - this seems odd, as the product specs state this as a feature. I take it this has been tested/confirmed? 2) I checked the site, and see links for download etc. I also noted the upgrade and root procedure within this thread - is there a...

Greetings owners, after a long spell away from the forums I've returned chasing info on the WP7. I have 3x questions, 1) what is the wireless charge rate (watts or amps) 2) can I upgrade to Android 10 without root, and if so, what is the simplest method 3) is TWRP supported, and if so, what is...

Hey there! Just fired up my surviving XT897, and I'm running stripped factory ROM. I'm in need of a replacement battery to keep it going as it falls off a cliff from about 40%. I see you are posting in 2019 - what ROM are you running now? Lineage or stock?

Yep - diehard HWKB users know each other too well. I've bought it. I've been waiting to see if the Moto Z Force will have a HWKB mod, esp as the prototype device was developed with one, inc extended battery. Looked at NFC keyboards & wondered if it would be easy enough to build a custom...

Hi there, I'm looking for a dark theme/app/patch/module for the stock 4.1.2. I've been watching the Z also, and have read that thread. Post Next qwerty phone? Photon Q is getting old for today's apps...

The z looks promising - especially as it is modular, as most manufacturers it would seem want to just simplify their manufacturing process, it would mean making a generic touchscreen phone, and then batches of accessories to suit demand. Very smart idea. Repairs/upgrades would be a hell of a...

Thread What is everyone using for automatic background task killing???

Post [ROM] CyanogenMod 13.0 for Photon Q (Android 6.x) [UNOFFICIAL]

I've experienced it with different strains - eg Carbon Rom, but if every ROM is built off of CM, then this is why it persists. I have not tried capturing a log at the time, and have been running stripped stock for over a year now, as I use the phone for work, & can't afford bad call quality...

To be fair - when I say 'hype', I'm not bagging the excellent work by everyone in producing these - what I mean is: can any of them be deemed a final release? I guess not, but not for lack of trying. I've been frustrated by broken simple core elements performing worse than 'stock' ROM. For me...

Ok, good to know. I've tried CM a number of times since right back to the HTC DZ/Dream days, and kept finding it was more hype than reality. Post Automatic Power On

Yeah, that's what I was talking about. The micro usb cable plugs all have the 'extra' pin in them, but not the wire usually. A USBOTG cable will either have the wire or the link to the pin. Alternatively, buy a plug & make it up yourself?? I just haven't got round to testing it all out yet...

I believe powering the device through the 5th pin on the USB will allow it to run without a battery, but I'm yet to try it. This may solve your problem if you hardwire the handset to your car battery etc. I've often thought about repurposing handsets in this way - built in GPS/dash cam/music...

    Post Thoughts after trying it.

DZ had a 4 row keyboard, unlike the G1, which had a 5 row, so I consider that a step backwards. The Priv also has a 4 row, so entering numerical data will require holding or double tapping a function key mid sentence. Photon Q has 5 row. Whether it is/was sold at a convenient store to you is...

Motorola Photon Q (XT897) 5 row keyboard slider - last best qwerty phone FYI. I also have 2x G2's/DZ's, and the original G1/Dream. The Photon Q design with the side (landscape) slider 5 row (similar to the G1) is probably the best layout, just needs to be built again with update specs. Sent...

Actually a bit of both. The consoles were always running hot, and would freeze/lock up fairly often - enough to require rebooting from time to time.
