Post Extremly strange battery behaviour! Jumps Upp and down and drainage on stock Note 4

I went from 50 to 1 one night. This was on KK. I upgraded to 5.0.1 (BOF) three days ago and the battery life seems more stable and longer lasting. Try letting it drain until it powers itself off (at night) and charge it off until it is full. I have had to do this on other Android phones (an S3...

Post Took my Verizon Note 4 to AT&T - results

Did they remove a bunch of Samsung bloatware or was there less carrier crap installed? At least the Samsung bloat was for added functionality of the device. Verizon et al use it to push extra subscriptions and/or more data heavy apps to make customers want to upgrade their data plans and/or pay...

Post Took my Verizon Note 4 to AT&T - results

I haven't heard that app/service mentioned before. Thanks, I will check it out. The bootloader will forever be locked by Verizon. This doesn't alter anything on the phone and it would brick it if they tried to as Verizon wouldn't hand over the the keys to AT&T to encrypt their bootloader with...

Thread Took my Verizon Note 4 to AT&T - results

I finally paid off the phone from the EDGE program and gave the finger to Verizon. Having dealt with taking phones from one provider to another, I was amazed at how easy the process went. With the AT&T SIM in place the voice network worked as it should (no surprise there). The data/MMS just...

Post [GUIDE] Disable Knox and the OTA without root (KitKat Only)

As long as drivers are installed then just ignore the setup from the virtual CD drive that shows up when the phone is connected. I don't think you can disable it without breaking all connectivity — at least on the phone side. In the device manager (Windows key+Pause - Device Manager) there are...

    Post Let's Talk Root!

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned before but I'll share it anyway. The bootloader/kernel seem to initiate checks on everything in /system/app, /system/bin and more I'm sure. Apks added to /system/app get removed upon reboot. It looks like /system/kern_sec_info is more than likely the...

Post Review: VZW Note 4 on Straight Talk

I tried it but it really screwed up my VM and it ended up rejecting all VMs from missed calls. I tried at least 3 times to set it up and no dice. I just hope when I switch I have no problem.

Post Review: VZW Note 4 on Straight Talk

Thanks for the info on this. I am going to buy out the rest of my contract with VZW as soon as I can and save over half on my monthly bill while getting 1 more gig of data. No ringbacks or VVM but it's a good tradeoff.

Post [GUIDE] Disable Knox and the OTA without root (KitKat Only)

Don't block com.sec.android.app.myfiles unless you are rooted! It is the only file manager that can delete/modify files on the microSD. Also you shouldn't block com.google.android.play.games if they play online games via Google Games (should be a no-brainer). These are two entries on the...

Post Screenshots are not saving properly?

They are actually stored in PNG format but adding .jpg will launch your photo viewer which is smart enough to know how to load it. It is hard to tell by that image if the files truly have no extension because you don't have extensions turned on in Windows. Does My Files show them without extensions?

Post [Q&A] [Root] Stump Root for LG Devices (2012 - 2014) Big update 1.2.0

hemanolio Did you try debloating at all? I am leery of doing so because I tried doing that on an ST LG Optimus Showtime and it bricked because the bootloader/bootchain checked the system apps and found out they were some missing. Because of the strange way that LG recoveries work I was never...

Post Attempting to root Verizon Note 4 SM-N910V using CF Autoroot.

That is essentially the ROM he made but it is only for the dev model right now. The difference being that DE units can have a custom recovery installed (TWRP in this case) which is essential to installing a custom ROM.

Thread [Q] Flashing ESN without USB

I have my S3 flashed with an LG220 ESN to use on prepaid but I upgraded to a Note 4 and want to flash it back for a backup phone. The problem is that my S3's USB port only charges (have troubleshot it to death) so I am unable to use to flash it back. Is there a way to bind a Wifi or BT...

Post USB OTG killed my S3

If your S3 is under manufacturer's warranty then you can exchange it at VZW for nothing. Just don't mention the otg because it may make them say it was outside of acceptable usage and deny it. If that warranty has expired and you have an extended warranty then you will have to pay around 100USD...

Post USB OTG killed my S3

I would say stay away from anything that requires external power or has that as an option. Flash drives and microSD readers should all be fine. Keyboards and mice w/o special lighting (blinged out with leds) should be fine. I have tested a few w/o any problems. Beyond these devices it is...

Post USB OTG killed my S3

Unless the wiring isn't 1:1 (pass-thru) no cable should be to blame. All OTG cables are cheaply made because there is no big brand name that sells them. The circuitry in the S3 should be stopping too much current from flowing through (or back in). There appears to be small batches of S3s that...

    Post [BOUNTY] ($205 so far) Enable HSPA+ on 1900 MHz / 1700MHz for VZW Galaxy S3 i535

Post USB OTG killed my S3

There is no doubt that the problem is Samsung's whether or not the cables can only be bought aftermarket. The S3 USB circuit doesn't properly do its job. From documentation of the USB standard it appears that a device must request more power. This means it is accepting the request erroneously...

Post USB OTG killed my S3

It is an either/or hub and media reader but it wasn't plugged in. There must have been a surge from the caps in the hub sent back to the phone due to a combination of poor designs/components. The hub works fine on my pc still. I bought it from Big Lots so it is probably cheap Chinese ware. I...

Post USB OTG killed my S3

This same thing happened to me when I plugged the same type of cheap right elbow OTG cable from ebay into my brand new S3 (2 days old with about one hour of usage). The cable worked fine with USB drives, a mouse, or a keyboard used alone on the S3. The cable was plugged into a USB 4 port hub...
