I flashed Thur adb ATHENE_RETAIL_8.1.0_OPJ28.111-22_cid50 Then flashed twrp and installed Ex kernel and rooted it with Magisk. Didn't have fingerprint at that point, PC showed it as a G4 . Flashed a fsg & hw img from stock rom 6.0, using terminal and dd commands. It now shows G4 Plus.

Made plans before I Tried this, I am in no rush for a blank flash, devs will come up with one given time and a release of necessary files from Moto. I knew the risks! Have more phones. The xda deveropers are world-class at going beyond the vendors.

You do not know the reason I was trying to downgrade. I had 8.1 installed but it stopped the fingerprint from working so I tried a fix that didn't work at my own risk, and I can read. Its only a phone.

This version after I flashed it made a Moto g4 out of my Moto g4 plus, no fingerprint sensor. Can not downgrade the bootloader Even stock nougat says G4, but in twrp recovery, PC shows Moto g4 plus.

The only issue I have with this build is on a reboot or shutdown I lose the Sim card. I have a backup in twrp of efs that restores it after a restore & reboot. I have to restore the efs after every reboot or shutdown. Searched forum for awhile but never found a fix yet? ---------- Post added...

I have used the 8.1 rom for awhile, no issues. Moto actions flashlight a bit lagy but camera is working great. I repaired this phone never had Moto actions working on stock 7.0. They work for me on this build Strange!
