Yes, the app works like I stated before but the problem is the module that doesn't work. I guess I'll be using the app then. I'm quite reluctant to mess with the iptables rules while having no clue to what is wrong. I hope the app doesn't hog too much battery. Thanks for your help though.

The module installs v3.9.1 of the app which causes it to crash. Manually downloading the app from the zip installs the correct app version 3.9.3. Substratum dark skin overlay now works perfectly which was not the case before.
