Thread Are there still snapdragon GPS issues?

This question is only directed to people who had issues from day 1, please don't reply if your GPS has always been working fine. Are folks who had GPS issues with snapdragon models still continuing to have those issues? Interested in this phone but it definitely isn't worth it to me if I can't...

Post YouTube keeps switching back to 480 resolution between videos, why?

Is this still a problem for people? Mine definitely is always 480p when I select a new video, and I'm on a WiFi network with 170mbps download speed. It's very annoying and never carries "Auto" down to new videos.

    Post Standby drain

Something I noticed recently- I used to think this thing had horrible screen on time, but it's the standby battery that really threw me off. Having the phone in my pocket and periodically checking it throughout the work day, and then using it for an hour or two at home, I'd barely get 3.5-4...

Thread Force touch works maybe 75% of the time..

I've noticed even since Nougat, my force touch on the home button does nothing a lot of the time. It can't be a hardware issue because the phone does vibrate when I apply pressure to it.. does anyone else have this issue? It's kind of the main reason I never hit the lower left button to hide...

That's bizarre about the "preorder" excuse. How do you preorder a device that has already been released?

Post Bluetooth issues after Oreo Update

Actually I did notice the other day that my Gear Sport was on standalone mode instead of Bluetooth, so I was missing texts from people. Really annoying. Samsung better address this.. going to take ages for Verizon to get the update though, I'm sure.

Post Power and Bixby buttons after 1 year?

After the second or third week of owning my phone, my power button became loose. I just hope it doesn't end up sinking into the phone and being unusable. You have to be very careful removing and putting on cases. I'm just afraid that a warranty repair or Samsung care repair will ruin the IP68...

Post [GUIDE] Update to CRC7/CRD7 with root without clear data and enter jail again

Are people mistyping crb7 and really mean crb9? My Oreo update isn't CRB7 or CRC7. It is CRB9. Which of the three is the newest?

    Post Standby drain

I've always read and heard that while you can't "overcharge" a smartphone battery, it isn't great for the longevity of a battery to constantly be trickle charging like that. It's usually best to keep your lithion ion battery level between 40 and 80%. I really only charge overnight when I have...

Post Which phone you had before the S8 ?

HTC Droid Incredible HTC Thunderbolt Galaxy Nexus Galaxy S4 LG G4 LG G5 LG V30 (then returned it in the first week...) Galaxy S8+ I like it for the most part. Don't love Bixby and the poor battery life, but otherwise it's a great phone.

    Post *Discussion* OREO

Darn. Oh well, too late. Definitely not going through that nightmare again of wiping my Samsung Gear watch, calling my bank twice for Samsung pay on my watch and phone, and then going through hoops in my company to get my Android Enterprise profile working again.

    Post *Discussion* OREO

Those of you who factory reset after a major update, do you restore your app settings from the google cloud, too? Does that have a potential to just reload the garbage that was negatively affecting your phone in the first place?

    Post Standby drain

Yikes. I woke up in the middle of the night, unplugged because my phone was charged, and my phone dropped from 100% to 88% in just 4 hours and 45 minutes. That's horrendous. Going to try a factory reset tonight and hope it helps, but wow. That's 2.5% an hour doing nothing. It was apparently...

    Post Yup..Not going Oreo

I really don't think it's this whole forum at all lol. People who complain are just louder than people who are content. I got the update on my Verizon S8+ 5 days ago. I notice absolutely nothing negative about it. Battery still sucks, but no worse than Nougat. The phone feels much faster...

Post Get NATIVE Hotspot Working with Unlimited Data (No Root) on S8

Oh dang, what a shame! I could've sworn FoxFi used to work for me, but just double-checked myself and it doesn't. Maybe I was thinking of my LG G5. Now I can't remember if it did work on my phone with Nougat. If not, it's super weird that two phones running Android 7.0 on the same network...

Post Oreo locks down Google assistant even MORE?

Ahh dang! I got it working to turn my screen on, but I can't get it to unlock my screen. Looks like it is most likely due to my "Work Mode" profile for my job, it seems like Smart Lock itself is disabled.

Thread Oreo locks down Google assistant even MORE?

Back when Oreo was in beta, I read reports of people finally being able to activate Google assistant while the screen is off. Haha well I'm glad it's working for you! After it working all night for me, I'm now getting the same exact error you were getting. It's really annoying me, going to try rebooting next I guess. Edit So, rebooting was enough to let me watch one episode of a show, but then I got that error when I...

Post Oreo update download taking ages + question about battery cycles

5 hours definitely seems odd, especially if that update is only a third of the size of the Oreo update. Oreo took about 5-10 mins to download, and then maybe 20 minutes to install on my Verizon phone.

    Thread Oreo Navigation Buttons?

Post Do you use S8+ stock keybaord or SwiftKey or Gboard?

Gboard because the swipe texting is good, theming, gifs, stickers, and it keeps up with me when I type fast. Seems to be really good at autocorrect, too. For whatever reason, I just mash incorrect keys all the time with the Samsung keyboard and there are some small things in weird places. Never...

    Post Battery Heavily Degraded S8+

According to GSAM, my average SOT is 4.5 hours, with a 20 hour average life. Sometimes I only get 3.5 hours of SOT. My phone is 2 months old. I'd say you're fine.

    Post Standby drain

My phone dropped from 60% to 49% while sleeping for 6 and a half hours. With airplane mode on and medium power saving mode. To me, that's embarrassingly poor.

Post No fast wireless charging option? Wtf?

On mine it's just a matter of whether or not it's plugged into a fast charging brick. If I want slow charge, I use a charger other than the one that came with the phone. Works on my Verizon S8+ no problem

Post Nobody going to talk about display uniformity??!!!

My s4 and s8+ are uniform. The s4 has a yellowish tint to it, but it's at least consistent across the display. I had both of these phones and a V30 side by side at one point. The V30 was embarrassingly bad. One side of the screen was way brighter and it the screen looked grainy and blotchy, like...

Post Gear Sport screen alignment issue?

Looks fine to me? Maybe it's more noticeable with a watch face, like the 12 and 6 on the watch not being perfectly centered on the top and bottom of your screen? But yeah, I'm not seeing anything wrong here.. EDIT Here's how mine looks: https://imgur.com/a/TdvOn

Post Android Wear 2.0 on Gear Sport

No, you cannot run Android apps on a non-Android device, there are zero options unfortunately. But if you got Android on it, you would be missing out on the watch spinning dial, and with such a small screen on the sport, I couldn't imagine going touchscreen-only.

Post Trick the watch into thinking its being worn?

That's... Odd. There's a chance that your watch is defective, it might be good to see if you can exchange it or have it sent out for warranty if you try it on your other wrist and it still doesn't work. What if you move it a little higher up? Is there any situation you've been able to get it to...

Post Does the unlocked version FULLY work on Verizon?

I can't speak to others' experiences in here, but an unlocked S8 has CDMA radios and should work on Verizon's network. As others have said, Verizon's stuff like HD voice, wifi calling, and video calling won't be available.

Post How to prevent my S8 killing an app?

My S8 seems to just shut processes off when the screen is off. It's really annoying. No "OK Google" support, I can't get volume to work on my Chromecast except for maybe the first couple minutes the screen is off, then it works again when the screen is on, and simple app notifications like...

    Post Standby drain

It's just Samsung. I had a V30 sit on my desk untouched for over a week before it died (phenomenal phone, but I returned it for the S8+ due to its display defects). There was nothing disabled on it, no airplane mode, I just had it face-down so the always on display wouldn't drain it, which is...

Post Nobody going to talk about display uniformity??!!!

Okay, well people like me who bought the phone at launch were still called liars in these forums and chastised for warning others. At first people were going "oh it's just preproduction!" Now it's "just early production"
