All batteries will do this. Let your battery drain to around 10%. The turn your phone off and charge. Do this for the first couple of charging cycles and you should stop seeing that kind of drain.

You lost root because you clicked yes when rebooting, which is the fix root option. Should have clicked no which would have just rebooted. Solution is simple, re root your phone.
