All good I'd say .. however, LOS receives at least monthly updates as well, for N, O, P, if you prefer LOS.

The switch doesn't make sense in the current setup: the ROM is not ready for enforcing SELinux. It can be easily tested, if root is enabled: 'setenforce 1' results in a non-responding ROM ...

There could be various reasons, eg Magisk incompatibility. Try a clean flash, i.e. 'wipe data, cache, system' (backup boot, system, data before, if you want to go back).

Do you have any indication why it is worse now? Is it really the ROM, or is the devie degrading? This could be tested by falling back to a supposedly good version.

The zip is the full stock firmware (more or less); it is flashable via TWRP, which you need to get from somewhere else.

I think those compiling just remove 'vendor/qcom/opensource/data-ipa-cfg-mgr/' from their trees.

Experimental, because: PBRP recovery image doesn't fit onto Athene's 16 MB recovery partition. It can still be booted into, by using the 'fastboot boot recovery.img' command, which won't change anything on the device.

Thanks! I didn't feel comfortable about it anymore, thus I just moved it to 'Testing'. In particular, I still don't understand how you managed to make termux work :o .
