Which phone are you using? Which stock US firmware are you using?

No idea what that file is. You download the releases you want with XperiFirm. It will extract each of the updates to a separate folder. You then start with the US base release directlry. Copy system_X-FLASH-ALL-C93B.sin and vendor_X-FLASH-ALL-C93B.sin from a region other than US to retain...

Post T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

From people who have tried that in the past, it won't work properly. But I don't think there's any risk in trying ... you can always get into the flash mode and reflash the device with the old one. NOTE: The only weird thing I've seen was one update a while back where I couldn't go back to the...

That worked - thanks. Download just finished, and I compared the R2C with the R3C release: elabel-G8342-row-row_201809030842515.1_47.1.A.12.270_X-FLASH-LTALABEL-C93B.sin is missing in the new release - doubt that matters. fwinfo.xml shows the new revision number. oem_X-FLASH-CUST-C93B.sin is...

There seem to be a problem with the latest XZ1 Dual US firmware. XperiFirm will download and say it unpacked everything, but only 28 MB of files are present after the extraction.

XZ1c US 47.2.A.4.45_R6C was released!!! I made myself a US/CE1/UScompact Frankenstein firmware, and all the menus that should appear do (VoLTE etc). Can't test if it actually works since I'm out of the country, but seems likely to work!

Only the US compact supports T-Mobile VoLTE, and they haven't yet released Pie for that model :( Did you flash an Oreo oem file (haven't tried ... might work), or another region?
  16. U

Post T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

FYI: I just flashed a US/AE mixed 47.2.A.2.33 (used AE in the past - mostly because the 3 last letters in the release version are the same ... no idea if that matters much). Fingerprint works fine. Obviously No VoLTE.

Haven't tried due to XZ1c not being out yet, but that doesn't sound encouraging :(
  18. U

Post T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

Since you're running a "mixed" firmware, the OTA updates won't work any more. (They will probably fail if you try since they check if the original files match expectations ... or they would overwrite your mixed files removing the support you added). I just check https://xpericheck.com a few...

You can still get updates ... just go through the manual download/mix/update process every month. www.xpericheck.com will show you the new updates. The process is SUPER simple, and as long as you remember to delete the "userdata" file, you won't lose any data.

I also noticed that "SmartLock" (Google Trust agent) stops working after a while (maybe after the phone is turned fully off). Re-enabling it requires disabling the Google Trust Agent, rebooting, then enabling it again. When it stops working, going into the SmartLock screen shows no options...

Post T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

I've been running the triple firmware (US base + CE1 system/vendor + US XZ1c oem) since last, so I haven't tried with the new .179 US XZ1c release. This triple combo *sometimes* does VoLTE. After flashing it never works, but if I go to Dual SIM menu and select my non-T-Mobile SIM as LTE ... wait...

I'm not saying getting all features to work at the same time isn't possible. I've been doing that for a while. Anyways, I just tested the "US + CE1 system/vendor + XZ1c oem" combination, and indeed you were right that VoLTE works like this. "AE + XZ1c oem" works just as well as the above...

Post T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

I've been playing around quite a bit with different combinations, and it's pretty interesting. Firstly, I can't seem to find any benefits from mixing 3 firmwares. It works fine with the G8441_Customized US_1310-4371_47.1.A.12.145_R8B modem, but I get stuck in a bootloop if I add the fingerprint files from G8342_Customized CE1_1310-4354_47.1.A.12.145_R7B. Post T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

Well, at least it was super easy to do. But honestly, I think the bigger question is "Why can T-Mobile (and others I'm sure) prevent VoLTE without partnerships"? Isn't it part of the LTE standard and should just work across the board?
  30. U

Post T-Mobile USA VoLTE and WiFi calling

So I got G8342 working with VoLTE and fingerprint by mixing 3 firmwares as described earlier. I noticed Google thought it's an XZ1c in it's initial "You have a new device" mails, but everything else shows right. 1 issue though: Smart Lock. If I go into the Smart Lock settings there are no...
