It seems like they got Wi-Fi usage right in WP8. If Wi-Fi is connected it will go over Wi-Fi unless someone were to code an application to specifically use just the phone modem (haven't seen that).

The attached drivers are signed and work for Windows 8. Let me know if these work with the DVP or not. They are actually Lenovo Drivers but it is a similar chipset.

The qualcomm drivers are much better for non-HTC devices.

It sounds like the internal SD card crapped out. You could try my unbrick method but it sounds like it isnt being detected. Check in device manager to see if the USB device is being detected.

Looks like it is infrared spillover. Try covering the flash on the back and see if it produces the same photo. It is probably used to focus the camera.
