Yeah man, I bought a Pixel 2 XL just over 2 years ago from Verizon and ran into this same situation. Never obtained root. Pissed me off to no end. Phone is screwed up right now, looking at upgrades, and that's EXACTLY why I'm here right now... researching to make sure I can root before I buy...

When I opened substratum it said that I was running a "dangerous rom" and installing an overlays would cause a bootloop. (Thanks for the warning, substratum!)

Thanks for yourhelp. It didn't dawn on me that I may be using a newer version of fastboot. I'm not sure that it should, but using the older version seems to have worked much better!

Fresh flashed exodus yesterday, but when I try to flash radio I'm getting some weird errors. Have I messed up some partitions or something? FYI, back on stock now with radio working fine. Anyone know what the errors below are about?

Thank you. After some issues with a weird error, no-slot:modem or something like that, I had to reflash the stock image, modem, etc. but still had the same issue. I'm traveling this week so I'll experiment more when I get back home.

That is the version number, but doesn't say SUPER_NA. I think it came from the last time I flashed stock though. Where can I find that specific version?

I'm having an issue with phone calls. Everyone I talk to says it sounds like I'm breaking up and they can hardly hear me. I'm on Verizon and have set the Preferred Network Type to LTE/CDMA. Any help would be much appreciated.

I've been on Exodus for the last couple of weeks as I couldn't get Substratum to work properly on stock. It seems to be very stable, has nice features, and no need to reboot after applying substratum themes. I'm pretty happy with it. I don't use speakerphone much so wasn't aware of that issue.

Anyone else having touch delay issues w/chromecast? So when I type, scroll, click or whatever there is a 1 or 2 second delay for the action to show. AppRadio 3, ARUR, and Nexus 6 running CM12.1. But it's happened with every ROM including stock. Assuming the touch event is transmitted via bluetooth?

Actually, I was referring to the lag time between touching a button on the screen and the action actually happening. I've found that if you type too fast sometimes you'll get characters from a different character set appearing. It's just kind of annoying.

Just to be sure, you are connecting both the chromecast AND the mega to your wi-fi hotspot on the Nexus right? The both have to be connected to same wi-fi. It may help to set it up on a TV and your wi-fi in the house first. Then set it up with both connected to hotspot instead of phone wifi...

I think I had to flash the APN zip, go back into mobile networks > APN's and click reset to default. May have had to reboot.

I flashed the phone cache and the issue went away, fyi.

I decided to try google play edition, installed via the method in the general forum. Same issue. Went into GravityBox > phone tweaks > smart radio and set the normal network mode to LTE and power saving to CDMA/EvDo Auto. Rebooted and viola, calls started working and I'm getting LTE data...

I Odin'd NC5 with full refresh, installed the ROM, NC5 modules, SuperSU, and apn fix. I cannot dial out. I keep getting "mobile network not available". The real kicker, is that I re-Odin'd back to stock NC5 and getting the error there too. I've pulled the Sim and re-inserted. Don't really know...

It's on the Verizon site, but not available through the comcast link. CS said it would ship the 18th. Guess I'll see how long it takes to show up on comcast site and go from there. Was hoping to have Friday. The wait continues....
