Post [Q] Root for Asus Fonepad

+1 I tried LightFlow, but there's no LED to control. it's a shame, really.. such a useful feature :( can't believe they skimped on it, how much would that have added to the price?!? I guess I miss a notification light more than root :)

    Post [Kernel][July - 11][LINARO] Sliding_XP Kernel v9.0 Stable[STOCK Jelly Bean & ICS]

Actually, it seems these kworker processes show up on SXP too, here's a screenshot. Maybe it has something to do with my setup? Stock JB, SlidingXP 8.3, row scheduler, governors: hotplugx with screen off, sakuractive with screen on, less than 50 apps installed from Market.

    Post [Kernel][July - 11][LINARO] Sliding_XP Kernel v9.0 Stable[STOCK Jelly Bean & ICS]

Deep, many thanks for offering to look into it. I was going to do just that, but the dmesg output did not show anything that looked even remotely useful, to me. So I flashed another kernel, hoping that going through the same steps would reveal differences in the output.. only to find out that...

    Post [Kernel][July - 11][LINARO] Sliding_XP Kernel v9.0 Stable[STOCK Jelly Bean & ICS]

pegasusq / row - the responsiveness of the device is top-notch as far as I can tell, much better than say, ondemand / deadline on the stock kernel. but I don't play any games on me phone.. so I couldn't say how that gov / sched combination would work out for them. no benchmark scores, either...

    Post [Kernel][July - 11][LINARO] Sliding_XP Kernel v9.0 Stable[STOCK Jelly Bean & ICS]

Um... so no-one else has problems with NFC? It won't work for me with either 8.0, 8.1 or 8.1.1 :( I wasn't sure before if it had anything to do with the kernel, but I've tested two others (stock and another one), and NFC is fine with those... but I don't want to use another kernel, I've been...

    Post [Kernel][July - 11][LINARO] Sliding_XP Kernel v9.0 Stable[STOCK Jelly Bean & ICS]

It looks like NFC isn't working anymore.. the device no longer reacts to Xperia tags or to other chips. But I'm not sure it's kernel-related, other folks reported problems with it after the JB update (it was working just fine for me while I used the stock kernel). On the other hand, I didn't...

Post Jelly Bean for Xperia P, U, Sola & Go Discussion

That must be it, a problem with the app. I hadn't installed it on JB, only used SmartConnect-whatever :) Anyone else notice that this new stamina mode acts differently than the power saver stuff we had on ICS? WiFi no longer turns off (or, if it does, the battery stats graph don't show it)...

Post Jelly Bean for Xperia P, U, Sola & Go Discussion

For those facing issues with NFC & SmartTags: I assume you flashed JB without wiping? Did you see a "NFC firmware upgrade" message at first boot? The original SmartTags work just fine here (did a full wipe before flashing the JB .ftf), at least the black and red ones... I did run into the...

    Post S.onyTablet.S v3.0 [FLASHER] - Tab S/P/Xperia fws! new: Xperia Tab JB 4.1.1 !!!!!!!

Last week, I reported serious issues when upgrading from R5 to R5A (missing lockscreen, non-functional home button, problems with apps). I did try wiping and flashing again with Condi's tool, no change. My R5 was rooted with Bin4ry's script, too. I don't use Titanium backup, so I don't think...

    Post S.onyTablet.S v3.0 [FLASHER] - Tab S/P/Xperia fws! new: Xperia Tab JB 4.1.1 !!!!!!!

I tried updating from R5 to R5A, without prior wipe. No issues, but it was displaying 4.0.3 (release5) in the "About tablet" menu. So I thought... OK, let's do a wipe and see what happens. Well... what happened was that I ended up with a build without a working "home" button in the UI (it's...

    Post [Kernel][Xperia P] ICX kernel RC-1 [Governess, I/O, Fast]

I don't have interactive available on ICX?!? Btw, going back to Advanced Stock Kernel isn't an option anymore: no WiFi, even after flashing one of the previous modules zip file. Damn!

    Post [Kernel][Xperia P] ICX kernel RC-1 [Governess, I/O, Fast]

Thanks for the confirmation. The trouble is ondemand is laggy as hell.. That would've been my choice from the original governors. Conservative is fine, but Pulse News is a bit slow with it. I'll try performance for a while.. Hope it doesn't eat through my battery :)

    Post [Kernel][Xperia P] ICX kernel RC-1 [Governess, I/O, Fast]

Anyone having issues with v3B? I had 4 reboots from stand-by in the last couple of days, and also 2 hang-ups in use (device just freezes). No overclock, I only changed the governor (to pegasusq) and the scheduler (VR, then SIO). Nothing else changed, software-wise, since I switched to ICX...

    Post [Kernel][Xperia P] ICX kernel RC-1 [Governess, I/O, Fast]

I think a fair testing method would be reverting to stock kernel AND rom. Your device may have some files on /system that ours don't. At least, this would explain why WiFi works for you, but not for us.

    Post [Kernel][Xperia P] ICX kernel RC-1 [Governess, I/O, Fast]

I think he meant the Arc is a different phone, not differences between our P's. In any case, the newest wifi-modules aren't working for me either, with ICX v3B.

    Post [Kernel][Xperia P] ICX kernel RC-1 [Governess, I/O, Fast]

Could it be that you're missing some files from the modules zip file, or have put them in incorrect folders? I had a look at Doom's modules for the Xperia Arc (from this thread), and it's quite different from what you have in yours: different folder structures, a few more files.

    Post Illumination bar notification app

Cute... but it would be the other way around (if it were true): If you add up used+free RAM from those screenshots posted earlier, you get 635-636 MB for the S, while I have 683MB on the P (151 used / 532 free) :p

    Post [Kernel][Xperia P] ICX kernel RC-1 [Governess, I/O, Fast]

You do realise that Doom's stock kernel replaces ICX, right? You can't use both at the same time. Without working WiFi, the ICX kernel is unusable. You can load it with tons of stuff, but no-one's going to flash it (well, not anyone who wants WiFi, anyway).

    Post [Kernel][Xperia P] ICX kernel RC-1 [Governess, I/O, Fast]

Touch recovery working fine here, but still no WiFi :( Going back to stock kernel for now... (and yes, I did flash the wifi_modules zip file in recovery) LE- this may or may not be helpful: flashing the stock kernel re-enables WiFi without anything else being needed. I'd have expected WiFi...

Not sure why the apps are taking so much of your RAM. On my Xperia P, the Illumination app uses 1.9MB and Light Flow 7.4MB (current readings, after 1 day and 17 hours of up-time).

I looked up the new governors... not a lot of info, but I'm a bit confused about the inclusion of pegasusQ: it seems to be a governor for quad-core CPUs? LE - nevermind, found more info, this must be a modified version, optimized for dual-core CPUs.

Flashed KA03.. I couldn't get proper touchscreen response in AROMA, but I had the same issues on the ArcS, I must be doing something wrong :) Regarding further customization / theming: I want that battery percentage mod, yes, but I think the ROM should be left as close to stock as possible...

The kernel itself is v3, though. There are some new governors, and it's much smoother than v1 / v2, overall. Well.. here's hoping for fixed WiFi modules soon.. I've switched back to v1 for the time being, I need that WiFi thingy working..

Many thanks for giving us the (so far) only custom ROM for SXP :D It's smooth and fast, I haven't encountered any bugs / issues over the last couple of days. Just one thing is unclear: why do most of the init.d scripts have that .sh extension? I had to remove it manually, so they'd be...

Is your video using a DTS audio stream? I found that I have to reencode my video files with lower audio settings (stereo / Dolby ProLogic) to ensure smooth playback. Looks like Tegra2 cannot decode DTS (5.1 ch) streams, so the players resort to s/w decoding, which results in poor performance...

The problem with that app from the market is that it keeps the device awake when you turn off the screen, and it eats through the battery. On the Android phones I've used (Legend, Desire, Arc S), the WiFi remained connected, but the phone also went to sleep, battery drain was minimal. This is...
