What's the difference between the Pro and Xda roms? I went Pro am using the rom from the site but - being on Verizon - I'm not sure I see a difference. I have the pro key installed as well as the Virtual Key app. All seems the same as when I was on the Xda version.

If you can't get anything from your SD card, technically yes it is possible. At no point should it wipe internal storage but without an SD card there is a risk. I wouldn't recommend it and definitely have a backup.
