Hey guys, I'm sorta new to the world of HTC, I've been a samsung and sony guy in the past/sorta still am, but I got this HTC One (M8) and like my androids in the past I want to remove the carrier branding and install a generic au rom so I don't have to wait for my carrier to provide the updates...

True, I don't know what optus is like but Telstra is exceptionally slow at issuing updates so the sooner I can get the generic FTF the better. You will find the updates are far quicker than carriers. I know on the Z1 I'd get updates within hours of the rest of the world.

More than likely I would say any moded phone unless it's returned to stock won't update ota. At least that's how it was back in my Samsung days, I haven't moded my Sony. But that doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to just flash an ftf when it's available. Someone please feel free to correct me...
