When I have data turned off, though, there's a constant notification in the top status bar saying that it's off, and some services won't work correctly. The notification doesn't go away unless I turn data back on. And I think I read somewhere that it will go away if you restart the phone...

Have y'all tried the settings in the phone app (green phone icon)? There's a setting under "other settings" that says show contact info. Mine was on by default so I i don't know why it would be turned off.

Fyi... OTA dropped this morning with April security update.

There's a setting in the advanced menu in the bluetooth settings that says "Ringtone sync". I think it defaults to ON. Maybe turning it off might solve this problem.

Sounds dead, but have you tried to see if recovery mode comes on to try factory reset? Hold down power, vol up, & Bixby simultaneously for several seconds. Release them if you see a blue screen. I've also heard if the phone pauses up, it's possible to hold them even longer (like 30-45 seconds)...

I forgot to include that I have Samsung Pay running from the bottom of the screen, which means if I'm on the home screen and I swipe up, Samsung Pay opens. What you suggested works (thanks, by the way) as long as I have any other app running, but not on the home screen. I guess I'll have to...

On the navigation bar, holding down the home button activates the Google Assistant, as we all know. Is there a way to activate it if I have the gesture controls active on the navigation bar? (No home button, and Google assistant voice activation turned off)

I tried a few things but couldn't replicate what you are experiencing. Are you running Good Lock? I know it has a feature that modifies multi window, but I don't know if it would cause the issue you have. Did you take the ota directly from the carrier? Or did you flash the new pie update...

If you have a specific app that you need to use in Multu-window with YouTube, you can also use the apps edge panel to open the pair simultaneously.

Night mode working fine on Pie for me, assuming it only goes to night mode on navigation. Sorry, I can't report on Android Auto as I don't have it in my car.

I couldn't get the feature to work, even though the slider is visible. Tried it with multiple apps open and no luck. The double click of the left (task) button still works for me to switch between two recent apps. Either way, I'm actually starting to like the gestures control.

Anyone know what was in this update that just got sent out? Mine just came in about 10 minutes ago (to 5CRG7) but I just noticed that the date on it still says July 1st. I was thinking it would just be a security update but the July update was the previous OTA, wasn't it?

Not necessarily the case. At least not for me. I got CRF6 when it was released officially OTA, which was about the 3rd week of July, I believe. I didn't have landscape in TouchWiz (Samsung experience app) until the Galaxy apps store updated it about a week ago. Might be different for some...

If you got them in the Samsung theme store, they should be listed in your purchased items list, even if they were free. Touch the person icon in the top right of the theme store and go to purchased items.

It's not in the app drawer? Find it in the app drawer and touch and hold it until it moves it to the home screen. If you don't see it in your app drawer, go to settings/apps to see if it's still in your installed apps list. Apps just don't disappear randomly.

I've experienced this today, too, after the update. I charged up after the update and when I got to 75% battery remaining, I already had a little more than 2.5 hours of screen on time. I've always gotten respectable battery life, but it does seem better today. Time will tell really.

I've got the latest messaging app installed and I can't seem to find this setting for custom notifications for contacts. I've looked in the settings for both the messages app and in contacts. Can you explain where to find this setting?

I'm on AT&T using the S9 messages app. My whole family is on AT&T and I don't have any problems with double texts, and they don't receive dohble texts from me. Do you mean people on other carriers are getting double texts from AT&T customers using the S9 messages? I haven't seen that problem...

Well, an update since I posted that a few minutes ago. I just rebooted my phone and now the signal is full. Hmmm. I got the update today about 4 hours ago. I didn't see what the signal was right then, but I did power down and go to recovery and clear cache. I suppose I'll see what happens...

The update today caused mine to go down some while I'm at home. I haven't had a chance to check in different areas yet. On the previous build, I had a full signal at home, which I had never had on any other build. Now, today, it's dropped to 2-3 bars. If it doesn't get better, I may go back...

Not in device maintenance. The closest thing built in that I can think of maybe is the Google Play Protect. It's in the Lock Screen & Security settings. There also is AT&T Mobile Security app that comes pre-installed on their variant. I have it disabled, though. That's all I'm aware of.
