It appears the update is currently for the non Amazon ads version of the G5 Plus. That it is for "verizon users" only at the moment. And no word yet if the update contains any additional fixes (like low headset volume) or security patches beyond the VoLTE Verizon voice issue fix.

Happens once in while on my Nexus 7 as well. As the previous poster indicated, unmount (if you can) any attached storage devices before removing the USB-OTG cable. When it does appear to freeze, I have to hold down the power button for 30 or more seconds for the boot to kick in and boot the tablet.
