I don't know why I need or don't need one. All I was trying to do was flash a slightly modified stock firmware through TWRP and that's the error it gave.

I have a LG v30 h933 and it's current hard bricked 9008 mode. When I connect to my pc it comes up as qualcomm hs-usb qdloader 9008.... Do I need to open it and short the test points still or am I able to repair phone in this state through USB?

I followed that thread exactly and got the same issue. Then when I tried to flash back to stock kdz it kept timing out then completely bricked the phone so RIP.

Yeah I tried that twice and it didn't work either time. And the second time when trying to revert back to stock kdz it hard bricked my phone and now it will not do absolutely anything except black screen and connect to my pc under Qualcomm 9008 mode.

Half my fault and half bad luck I guess. It crashed halfway through a LGUP flash and now is completely unresponsive other than showing up at 9008 Qualcomm device on my pc.

I was trying to flash the latest h933 kdz and I was on the modified most recent h933 kdz from the kernel/ROMs section after Frankenstein converting to 998 then back to root. Doesn't matter anyway the phone is bricked now and only has 9008 mode which I have absolutely no idea what to do with.
