Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't the lock not something they ever lift? My current 2 XL was paid retail but they never allowed me to unlock the bootloader. They do allow for any carrier SIM to be used in it.

I have to root my phones (not wanting to pay $30 for Verizon tether), is anyone aware if the Pixel 4 XL from Verizon will have the bootloader locked, and unable to be rooted? In addition to that, would we see a root for the unlocked version? Thanks

Just wanted to follow up. My replacement XL 2 arrived from Ft Worth and had a original plastic around it, had a label on the device back with date 11/20/2017. It looks brand new. Rooted and VERY pleased. Thanks OP for sharing info.

Thank you, I think I had multiple issues going on and didn't connect them. First I had a corrupt file and when I flashed it and loki I thought loki was the problem. Then when I did the download from my PC and checked it I avoided the loki zip from then on. That was my problem. :D

I've liked greenify. It foes require root, unlike battery guru. But I've found running both is pointless. Greenify enabled catches the apps before battery guru and it shows in the "meter" of effectiveness in that app.
