Post [EDITED]Touch Inaccuracy And Lag While Using Keyboard, PUBG, Modern Combat And Others

I have a Poco phone f1 global version. I do not experience any issues with typing even when I try to type as fast as I can. On pubg, I get an issue where there is a slight input lag when I first place my finger down, but once my finger is down my screen rotates smoothly. Doesn't seem to make a...

    Post Colour blending (blacks) problem

Ok. Fine then, there is more black crush in the s9+ compared to other AMOLED phones. My experience with Screen Balance is that when applied properly, I can minimise black crush while still retaining true black level (I.e. if the screen crushes greys from level 1 to 5, you can apply screen...

    Post Colour blending (blacks) problem

I don't know, it's probably still there just that maybe it's less obvious. Or a placebo effect. My s7 edge suffers from it too if I look hard enough. And some claim their new units are "improved" then few hours later realise that the issue is still there. AMOLEDs have other defects too anyway...

True blacks is not compromised if you set screen balance sparingly. ---------- Post added at 05:38 PM ---------- Previous post was at 05:37 PM ---------- No one has conclusively proven that the issue has been solved. I think it's an inherent issue in all AMOLEDs, so no.

Hi Toss3, I'll update with your screenshots soon. Someone mentioned Black Panther at 0:44. Mine looks okay as far as I can tell: Someone also mentioned the cross with the glow. Here's my comparison, S9+ at top, S7edge at bottom. The 'olive green' appears on my S7edge instead. Here's the...

Yes same as you on my s7 edge Vs s9+ too so I was reluctant to believe, until I hooked the s9+ up to my monitor. Too bad my s7e doesn't support MHL so no way to test. I suspect netflix is loading a different version of the video to the s9+ Vs s7e. Maybe has to do with hdr support or something...

    Post Colour blending (blacks) problem

I think netflix's compression may have something to do with it. Netflix's compression removes detail from shadow areas. I tried Friends in College episode 5 and it was terrible too. Then I hooked up the phone to a monitor and realised netflix or the phone's display driver was the main culprit...

    Post Colour blending (blacks) problem

Hi Toss3, still waiting for your video so I can do some tests myself. Anyway, earlier in this thread, there was an example showing a white cross with a minor white glow against a black background that looks like crap on the S9+. Indeed, it does look bad with the black crushing and black...

    Post Colour blending (blacks) problem

Yes I do believe I have the issue just that I struggle to see it the way it is. In any case I think this can be resolved via a software fix through the screen balance app. But this thread also brings up another issue which has to with the banding of colours which is not resolved by the screen...

Sorry for the lack of clarification. Mine is the S9+ (sorry, in my mind, the S9 doesn't even exist :)). I can notice the black crushing in the Display Tester app and gradient banding with the wallpapers but cannot meaningfully (to an obvious degree) notice the effect in my videos (yes, when...

I'm not legally blind but honestly I don't spot any differences in the Blank Panther trailer between my s9 and s7edge. Not sure if two different phones will load up the video with varying types of compression? My s7 edge has a slight black crush. But even then I find the output video acceptable.

Post About Flashing a different CSC file

Just a quick survey here to examine the quality of the s9+'s screen. I created the following PNG files with screen balance at 2%: 1. Open Https://www.describee.com/b.png in a dark room with brightness set to max and tell me which squares you can't see. 2. Then open...

    Post Colour blending (blacks) problem

Netflix has some weird compression issue on certain HD videos that manifests on the s9 but not s7 edge. Verified this by hooking up my s9 to an LCD monitor. May have to do with 4K or HDR. Not sure. To be honest, on YouTube and unaffected Netflix videos (such as stranger things or friends), I...

I have 2 S9+s at home (the other belongs to my sister) so I did the Display Tester test on her phone too. At 30% and 100% brightness, square 7 and 4 are very visible on her phone respectively. Sorry guys, I realise that Imgur compresses the image such that you see extra squares. I cannot reproduce this on the Black Panther trailer. Tests conducted in a dark area (i.e. under my table), taken with a Sony A6500 camera at ISO 6400 (hence it looks 'bright') S9+ (top) vs S7 edge (bottom): Min brightness Max brightness Others (can't remember the brightness settings)...

Yep, it's there on the Sony as well (as proven from the contrasted photos), but it seems that the Samsung shows it more. Perhaps different tone curve, or different noise characteristics.
