Post [Help Thread][Google Pixel 3](2018) Ask Any Question, Noob Friendly

Plan on buying direct from Google for the first time. If I port to a U.S. carrier, will I rely upon them for updates and not get them when Google releases them? Can the carrier, and will they likely, lock the bootloader?

    Post Community development strength

God, I hope you're right. This device has sucked much of my love for Android out of me. I feel like I'm on an iPhone. I don't think I'd root without twrp. I wouldn't want to be away from my pc and not be able to flash a backup if my phone wigs out.

Nope. One year out from launch, and still rooting and flashing seems a mess. This so easy on my LG G3 only 4 months from its release.

    Post "Moisture detected"

I had this start happening out of nowhere. I never permit contact with water intentionally. The only thing I can think that might have caused it is steam from the shower, but really?? So I took it into Sprint after a few days, several different cords, and using a q-tip & hair dryer didn't...

    Post Sprint g935u & g935p Clarification

I'm not sure how you thought I might be a developer by the questions I asked. I'm the furthest thing from a developer. Were you being sarcastic? My head is still spinning by all the variants of the Edge. I come from the G3 that had separate development for each variant, and there was only one...

    Post SM-G935P Root - Updated 10/25/2016

I don't know what I did wrong, bc I feel like I did everything it said to do in the OP. I'm on AKP1, and I went through the steps, disabled the 3 packages, flashed the tar file in Odin, unzipped the SU file and installed the one, but I couldn't get root. I tried it a few time, never managing...

Post Watch Only Charging to 50%

Thanks for the tip! I'll try to drain it and see how that goes. Glad it worked out for you. I bought this thing shortly after it's release, so it's had a decent run for a first gen smart watch. I was afraid it was starting to reach its end, and I don't have money falling out of my pockets to buy...

Thread Watch Only Charging to 50%

For about a month now, my watch is only charging to about 50% even after a full night on the cradle. This hasn't been a real issue, because it doesn't drop below 40% throughout the day, but it does make me curious. I'm on build number M1D64S. I haven't seen anything mentioned of this here on...

    Post Tap/knock on?

I read an article saying the s7 and s7 Edge are going straight to 7.1.1 in early, and this version will bring knock on. Awesome! It didn't say anything about knock off though. I've got to believe if it will knock on, it will also knock off. Has anyone heard about this? Using my G935P S7 Edge

    Post Textra Emoji Grid Broken

Yes and no. I had tried downloading the IOS and Twitter style add-ons. I guess I thought by downloading them, they would have been activated in Textra, but not so. When I did go into Settings and choose IOS, it did fix the problem for me. Thanks! And this worked too. When I did go back to...

    Post Textra Emoji Grid Broken

Thanks for the tip, but I did try clearing the cache a few times. I thought about editing the dpi, but one ap shouldn't need a full system change. Oh, well. I can put a positive spin on this to say at least someone didn't answer 5 minutes after I posted the OP to say I was overlooking...

    Post Textra Emoji Grid Broken

Maybe, but since I've only noticed this on my edge, not on my wife's S7 or on my previous LG G3, and all using the same Textra app, it seems to be devices specific. I've searched online and here on XDA. Not a thing I can find of it. Using my G935P S7 Edge

    Thread Textra Emoji Grid Broken

I've owned this device for about a month, and I've had this glitch ever since. Never seen it before on my G3 or any other device. I've tried other Textra emoji sets, and it doesn't change. Looks the same in landscape. I haven't rooted this Edge or changed the dpi. Stock rom & kernel. Has...

    Post Tap/knock on?

Coming from the G3, I'd say you're on to something. Anyone who doesn't realize the advantage of knock on, probably hasn't had a device with it. Personally, the Samsung home button was the one thing that almost kept me from getting the edge. I go out of my way not to use it, because I want to...

    Post Sprint g935u & g935p Clarification

Thanks. That makes sense. I remember the s3 had rom development that worked across all s3 variants. We never had this with the LG G3. Development had to be for, or include, the ls990 specifically. And there was only one ls990. No variations of it.

    Thread Sprint g935u & g935p Clarification

I tried all kinds of searches to avoid having to post this question and looking like a newb. Coming from the LG G3 ls990 where the variant was cut & dry, I'm having a hard time distinguishing between devices. Before my LG, I had a Galaxy s3, and it had a very clear model number too. Now I...

    Post Auto-Brightness Persistence (not rooted)

Thanks for the comments. I thought the display mode might do the trick when unchecking Auto-Brightness didn't. As I said in the OP, I changed it from Adaptive to Cinema, cause that sure sounds like it makes sense. Not sure about the gamma changing. The last two replies sound convincing. I'll...

    Thread Auto-Brightness Persistence (not rooted)

It's been a while since I've owned a Samsung, and I was always rooted with my LG. Trying to resist the urge to root and take control, but this is driving me crazy. I've removed the check from the Auto-Brightness box a few times, but then I notice my phone dimming on its own and find the box...

Post My device is stock, no root and it will stay like that !!

I'm trying to keep myself from rooting. Coming from the LG G3 Sprint variant, there were too many wonky glitches that were never resolved with AOSP or CM. I don't know if it was devs battling with LG's coding, or if it was Android L & M, but it was frustrating. No one could ever present a...

So if anyone read my post on the last page about not being able to connect to wifi, I re-downloaded and clean flashed the 9-8 build, and it works fine. I don't want that isolated issue to deter anyone from giving Exodus a shot. It's brilliant. It's so smooth and fast, I thought for sure I'd...

I'm really fuming at all the jackwagons that chased such a great dev away, especially that last pimple-faced spoiled brat that finally threw him over the ledge. I'm sure the dev could diagnose this quickly if he were still around. It might have been since I installed supersu that I started...

I've appreciated your input throughout this thread. I would last about a day before I stopped support for a device if I were a developer. As a user of the G3 in this community, it's embarrassing to see a rom offered at no cost and the thread flooded with 5 year olds who want the same flavor...

I think it's worth mentioning in case anyone else has this problem that it's xposed-related. I uninstalled xposed, and I haven't had this issue since. Apparently, it has nothing to do with this rom or Xenon. I'm only mentioning it, because a few other people have brought it up in this thread...
