Post Root Acer Iconia A1-830 ?

My problem is that with the A1-830 stuck on 4.4.2 there are lots of apps I'd love to run which just don't support that old android version, so I can't install them at all. Is there anything in xposed which might help with that?

Post [GUIDE] Root Acer Iconia Tab 8 - One 8

Similar question to others - I have an A1-830, already rooted long ago. Is there any hope of getting it to any version of android above 4.4.2? It's not the fastest device around, but I'd really love to be able to run some apps which just don't support that old an android version.

    Post [TOOL KIT] myKIT_BATCHV1.1.x

I think the message from vampirefo was for me. I use Linux, but had only found the Windows stuff from social-media-concepts, not his linux stuff. That will make my life easier. Do you have any idea what Linux is? You can't buy "a linux" and you don't need one anyway. (Linux is an operating...

    Post [TOOL KIT] myKIT_BATCHV1.1.x

Thanks, I have no idea why I never found that thread. I'll check through it later, as I'm sure it would have worked on my A1-830. I've just started trying to compile the full TWRP for Intel, but it will take a while, since I don't have lots of time to work on it.

Well, I suspect you are missing something or you would have succeeded, although I admit not everything was fully obvious. My main question is are you using Windows, Linux, or Mac? I succeeded on Linux (tethered) figuring out each piece by pulling apart social-design-concept's windows batch...

    Post [TOOL KIT] myKIT_BATCHV1.1.x

[sorry I had to edit the quote to remove the URL, not enough posts yet] First, I just want to confirm that this worked for my Acer A1-830. I had edited build.prop and not fixed the permissions, so got into a bootloop. This recovery finally let me apply an update.zip that fixed the permissions...

Post Guide to fixing a soft brick after editing build.prop

Well, I finally got INTEL_TRIAL2_TETHERED_CWM_PKGKIT (found on another thread here) to work, and finally managed to produce an update.zip that fixed the permissions of build.prop back to 644 (including my edit). The only problem is that when the tablet (Acer Iconia A1-830) rebooted, it was in...

Post Guide to fixing a soft brick after editing build.prop

I got mine by cashing frequent flyer miles, so I'm still really happy with it. The issue of multiple possible processor types wasn't much of an issue until the larger variety has become more popular. However, I've run into it before looking at open source Router software. Android mostly...

Post Guide to fixing a soft brick after editing build.prop

Thanks for the suggestions. I'd love to give Aroma a try, but as delivered, it's only for ARM, and my Acer A1-830 is Intel Atom. At some point, I'll get set up to compile it myself, but that's a longer term project for me. I'll also see if I can hunt down a TWRP for Atom. I have signed it...

Post Guide to fixing a soft brick after editing build.prop

I don't know if it is due to a different device or different version of some app or os, but none of this has helped me. I added a line to the end of build.prop, and got the dreaded bootloop. In that state, adb works, but without root, I can't edit, copy, or chmod build.prop, nor can I remount...
