A stock-ish kernel is just what I've been looking for! One question, does this kernel hide the bootloader flag from SafetyNet?

Loving the ROM, just have a quick question. Is there a kernel floating around out there that's stock, but with the SafetyNet bootloader hide patch? Or even better yet, a guide or such so I can learn to do it myself? I flashed EX and Franco, but both have a noticeable decrease in system fluidity...

Sounds to me like TWRP is the culprit here... Has anybody been STOCK, taken the OTA (either via sideload or beta program), then flashed the STOCK factory image of ANY 6.X build (no keeping data, TWRP, or other crap like that, pure stock with a wipe) and had any issues?

This has been reported before, but it appears that the Nightlies still do not retain Gapps on flashing and cause FCs on boot. Is it required to reflash Gapps every time we update, even if we perform a dirty flash? Or do the homemade builds retain Gapps? Thanks!

Does anybody know if Fi works? I won't be able to flash until next week, which is why I'm asking.

Don't flash the vendor zip if you have already flashed vendor from the factory image. The /vendor partition is completely separate from the ROM, with the exception of Layers theming. So if your vendor is MMB29P and you haven't purposefully changed it, you can forget about vendor and just flash...

Stock MMB29P kernel is dated November 5th, the kernel hasn't changed since 6.0.1. He's good on that front.

You've probably tried this, but use the unlock code as a parameter, so fastboot flash unlock 0xABCD etc. Also, fastboot flash unlock isn't a stock fastboot command, it might be Amazon's , but not stock. Try fastboot oem unlock, or the new commands, fastboot flashing unlock or fastboot flashing...

A $50 tablet has to cut costs somewhere, but I'm still a bit annoyed that Gorilla Glass and oleophobic coating were two things that went. Sigh.... But to answer your question, I'd say either a screen protector or just live with it. If my $600+ phone got scratched I'd be freaking out, but my $50...

That is stock recovery. Hold Vol Down and press Power. Boom. Don't feel bad though, I've been doing this for quite some time, and I still had to look up the command to get the menu to pop.

The SDK gets updated every few months, sometimes more. Definitely update to the latest 6.0 platform-tools. If you're using tools from Eclair....yeah, it's gonna break.

It auto-boots after 10 seconds, or you can press the power button once to skip it. Someone also said you can disable dm-verity (the warning check) on the ROM side, which would skip the splash entirely. I'm not too sure about that though, but we shall see.

Stock Marshmallow includes a SystemUI Tuner, accessed by long-pressing the settings gear. So no, it's not Cataclysm.

Set it as the default voice assistant. To everyone else, I have absolutely no issues with Gapps. No FCs, no GSearch issues, nothing. If you are having issues, try the instructions I posted earlier.

Used these gapps, follow the instructions though, use "touch 'filename' " in TWRP terminal for the file creation. Gapps on 6.0 is struggling right now, but these instructions worked for me. EDIT: Forgot the link...

I never thought about this... If this is true, it will probably go down as one of the greatest strokes of genius to happen at Google in regards to the Nexus program. Capitalizing on the unlocked bootloader, and throwing devs a bone without taking the time and resources to support them...

Certainly! I got used to it on custom ROMs, and the number of times I've pressed the rocker expecting the screen to wake this week on 6.0 is frustrating, to say the least. :laugh:

They are marketing the Pixel C as a Chrome OS type device. That's bad. We got the short end of the stick with the N10, and that was a purebred Nexus. The Nexus 9 was also a raging s***show in terms of support. I wouldn't expect guaranteed updates, and I CERTAINLY wouldn't expect factory images...

That's like the first rule of Android dev previews, to clean flash, both to and from. :p Also, WIndows users need to double click the .bat.

I can't really recommend the 5X to people, it's objectively inferior to the 6P in a startling number of ways. Not even "geeky" ways either (RAM speed or other power user stuff), but everyday features like camera (EIS, BurstShot, 240 FPS). Hell, the 5X doesn't even come with a USB-C to USB-A...
