Yeah, @Jumbo100 is entirely correct. Make sure to block OTAs asap. Amazon usually lets things slide for a while on new Android versions, but usually start to lock them down eventually. Always ensure OTAs are blocked and you should be good to go :)

That's a great question, actually! Unfortunately, probably not right now. Rooting methods are hard to come by, and usually require shorting points on the motherboard... which could be the case with these tablets. However, I'm not aware of any such methods existing at the moment, though. :(

Blocking the IPs at the router level should do the trick, or you could set up RethinkDNS using @blaacksheep's guide, which should cover all networks. The choice is up to you. :D Its true that HTTPS connections do encrypt the traffic, but that shouldn't prevent you from blocking them. (y)
