TWRP will go into bootloop if you recover a backup that was made when you've had active screenlock like fingerprint/passcode/password etc. You have to make backups with no screenlocks.

Before the steps you described I turned off the screen lock (fingerprint/symbol) than I made a nandroid backup. Rest of the steps were the same as yours and I didn't have any problem booting.

Since SGS2 through SGS4 and N4 now i`m using Go Launcher EX and it`s the best, the most featured, most customizable launcher in my opinion and btw i don`t have any regrets for speed/lags.

I would recommend some filemanager like Solid Explorer which have an FTP server. Just press MENU --> Sharing. You can set a password for sharing. The best of it is that you can share your internal/external memory with around 6MB/s speed. FTP is always faster than Samba,
