I had a bootlooping problem when I was on stock rooted ROM. I installed other ROMs that worked just fine but the stock rooted always had Mr looping after about 30 seconds.

I personally updated my hboot and installed the latest RUU available and then updated my phone. But I wasn't interested in getting s-off, I just wanted a stock phone.

4.3 is so much smoother and snappier than 4.1.2 was for me.

Maybe, or maybe their system has an algorithm to automatically declare a winner after x-amount of code entries.

My battery life is up. BUT I am coming back to a stock from Cyanogenmod, which drains my battery.

That seems to be the trend, which means that the codes themselves don't matter.

I was having the same problem, but I was using a USB cord that I had from my old phone. Switched to the white one that came with my Note 2 and it started working.
