Certain batches of the Nexus 7 contained the same faulty Samsung eMMC. Google engineers patched it up. Verygreen viewed the fix and implemented it for CM 10.2. No one has report a brick for months now. Seems to be safe.

Anyways I solved the issue. Booted into recovery using a SD CWM v6.0.4.6 image and was able to flash to 10.2. Seems that either the eMMC CWM v6.0.4.6 is either bad or I my recovery flash was somehow bad/correct. My Nook HD+ feels like a potato without trim enabled. With TRIM, it is laggy but...

Maybe that is possibly the problem. Most if not all the bricks are because of CM9 or AOKP. If you guys are forced to use a GB kernel + cwm to flash an ICS rom, that might be a problem.

You flashed a gingerbread kernel + CWM repack on a CM9 rom. That is such a bad idea.

If your phone does not turn on (blue light only), can't get into download mode, isn't recognized by a PC (Odin), then it is hard bricked. It could just be a bad flash or wrong flash, then a JTag service for $50 would solve your issue. If you messed up your emmc chip, then it is hard bricked...

In addition, CM9/AOSP/AOKP seem to increase brick chances. CMW Touch espicially with ROM Manager is espicially dangerous and should not be touched.

False, the FC leaks ones are 99% bug free. CM9, Codename and AOKP all have their share of serious bugs.

Don't panic. You can boot into Download Mode and odin recognizes your phone. You are not bricked.

1) Just use CWM Touch then flash between CM9 and ICS Leak while wiping data between each flash. Guaranteed brick within a few flashes. Don't even need to pull battery during flash. 2) For an even easier way, flash an international SG2 modem
