With 20% excise duty also, 40k cannot be justified for a 400 dollars phone. Anyway they'll maybe realise the same in a few months when the phone fails miserably in India.

Exactly, they should have priced 3a at 25k. It would have been a great move.
  3. nikhil.agrawal

Post Google Pixel 2/XL 2 Indian Discussion Thread.

Google has lost it in India. They have priced 3a at 40000 when devices like OnePlus 7 will be priced similar or lower. Who the hell in going to pay 40k for 3a when pixel 3 is available at 55k. And they wonder why they are failing.

Installed it during the io announcement only. Seems pretty smooth and full gestures finally although the back gesture kind of ruins the in app ability to swipe right from edge to access settings etc. Have to use the hamburger menu in all apps for the time being.

I might consider OnePlus 7 pro as well. Camera is said to be a major improvement also 90hz 2k panel and ufs 3 storage seems intriguing. Pricing is going to be around 50k.

Google doesn't care about the Indian market specially when it comes to hardware. They price their products outrageous in India and support is so and so. Even when the original pixel was launched it didn't support Jio volte. They did enable it later. Now they are doing the same with Airtel and...

Yeah true that but they'll have to sort it out by final release as they are already behind other OEMs in terms of gesture.
  10. nikhil.agrawal

Ok so tried the gestures. I don't like them at all personally. Gestures are pointless if they're going to have that huge ugly navbar.

Yeah, its pretty stable for 1st beta. Haven't tried the new gestures yet.

Feedback icon was planned. I read somewhere they had intentionally put the feedback icon in app drawer to make it easy for people to report bugs.

Samsung 10e seems to be phone for you if you are looking for one with a flat screen. Oneplus 6t is a good option too but doesn't have wireless charging and camera is mediocre compared to pixel.

Does anyone else also has the pixel visual core service icon in the app drawer? Also icici bank app just wouldn't work on Android q, anyone else also facing this?

Just installed the beta. All apps are working fine as of now. Ambient display is gone for me, double tapping the screen and picking up the phones directly lights up the screen like ios.

I'd wait for some feedback before installing the beta. Usually they are stable for daily use but as its the first beta app compatibility issues might be there.

the whole process takes about a week or two. they do give replacement device, a nexus 5x or 6p depending on the availability in case you don't have one. the notification led works fine, it's disabled by default. go to settings, apps and notifications and then notifications. switch on the toggle...

Its ironic that phones worth 3k support volte and Google still can't do that on pixel. with android one now coming with more phones, I'd certainly skip pixel next time and might go for a Nokia flagship.

it doesn't affect battery at all. I've hidden navbar with the command given in app and using bottom gestures for home, back and split screen shortcuts. I've also bought the paid version which adds even more customisability and also use the side gesture for back like iOS and miui.

gestures are **** in android 9, no point of gestures if the ugly nav bar is still going to be there. try this app, its free and doesnt require root. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.fb.fluid&hl=en_IN

The screen is the bad part if you can live with it. Apart from that my experience has been great so far. Camera is great, you have to use it to see how well it does. It's not a great deal to be honest. You can get a new one for 30-35k. Paytm, flipkart and amazon will be holding sales soon so after discounts and cashback you should get a good deal and also if you don't know the seller personally there is always a risk.

Apple still jacks up their prices a lot in india. They dont have to pay this much excise duty when they import iphones. They pay around 10% of the declared cost of the phone. This still doesnt justify the massive price difference.
