For rooted users, titanium is a good solution. But it sucks that for the non-rooted ones, the feature that is part of the OS behaves so unpredictably.

Yeah, there should be google backup/restore native app that gives more control to the user on what and when to backup/restore. Even better, the web market account should allow to select multiple apps and then send them to the device. Right now this is possible only for one app at a time.

It can be turned on/off in the Settings > Privacy -> Back up my data. Also, when first time booting after wipe, the setup wizard shows dialog where this backup/restore can be disabled (it's enabled by default).

Well, AutoLock used to solve this problem more or less, but it stopped working in 2.2. I've read that it is possible to set up Mobile Defense, so that you set up your lock pattern, then turn it off, but can re-enable it remotely using Mobile Defense if you lose your phone. Haven't tried this yet.

Based on the recommendations in this thread, I'm trying out MixZing. It's actually pretty good (with the exception of the weirdly looking icons). The main screen:

I like how it supports folder structure. But at the same time it doesn't seem to have any playlist support. Would be nice to have both.

Use TuneWiki as a music player, but agree that so far there is not clear winner (at least among free music players).

I'm generally happy even with this "beta" apps2sd. I'm just surprised that Manage applications doesn't have a list or sort function to display only apps that can be moved to SD card.

Using Google Earth as a large app not supporting apps2sd in step 2, I just checked that all you get is a warning. OS will not move apps after installation is over.

So the issue arrises with this scenario: 1) install some apps2sd supporting apps with "auto" attribute to the the phone memory (cause that's the default). Phone memory is ok. 2) install a bunch of non-apps2sd apps. 3) phone memory low. Get a warning. 4) Now need to go and manually move apps2sd...

Is there an easy way to find out which of the currently installed apps have been updated to support FroYo's apps2sd? There has to be a better way than to open Manage applications, sort by size and then click on on each app..

You can manually update FRF50 to FRF83, then FRF83 to FRF85B. Or just wait for OTA.
