Its kinda pointless to go back to stock and such if you like the CM nightlies, its what I run, because the first phones to receive the OTA will be the "Holiday" Nexus one, based on imei. It will be up on xda with many mirorrs and versions shortly after! If you remener froyo it will be like that...

If anything it will be here before you get the OTA anyway. Atleast that's what happened with Froyo. Someone will logcat the address then DL it, then it will get mirrored all over XDA :)

Maybe, but that is a big maybe. There are dedicated chips to drive the digitalizer and lcd so that would pose a problem. But assuming these new ones worked you would also have to write drivers in the linux kernal upon which android boots ( bios but for unix)

If we can send calls over Wi-Fi why can't we send texts over wifi? That would be really useful when lets say you are underground or in the middle of the school were you have no service but plenty of wifi bars

Don't quote me on this, but it all has to do with what IEMI's ATT has is its data base, thats how the phone tells the network what kind and make the phone is. The Nexus one for att 3g doesn't show up as a smart phone.....yet

So the big question: What programs do you guys use to get HD movies on to your N1? Also what setting do you use? I use handbrake on my Mac but I guess I just mess up the settings
