I use mine for exactly what you are looking for and it works great. I'm running LineageOS 14.1 and everything is pretty quick for a 6 year old device.

You need to flash them separate. Doesn't matter which one you flash first. Use the firmware that says "no boot, no recovery."

Great ROM. Two questions. Is there any way to hide the boomsound notification and would it be possible to make a mod for volume up to skip music tracks when screen is off and volume down to play/pause?

I am also having issues with Bluetooth staying turned on and connected.

Using the latest the only issue I have is the weird Data icon in the Settings menu. I did flash the latest 005 Mod pack so that may be the culprit.

Between that and the fact that the phone gets real sluggish after a while are a no go for making it my daily driver.

Is it possible to get the volume buttons to control music while the screen is off with the new base?

Running on CM12 I can adjust the volume using my bluetooth headphones and it moves the clicker on the screen, but when using a Sense Rom, 4.4.4 and the latest 5.0.1, the volumes are separate. When I click the volume on my headphones the volume goes up but it does not move the volume on my phone...

Can anyone confirm if the screen off music controls work with the new 5.0.1 base?

I'm gonna try Blackbirds kernel, http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one-m8/development/kernel-b14ckb1rd-aosp-t2954751, and see if Bluetooth works any better.
