Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

Workaround, fix, whatever its called it solves his issue of how to get his Nook to shut off. You couldn't remember, but I did so I answered his question.

Actually the "fix" has been posted for quite a while. Long press the power button. The normal log off screen will come up as usual but keep pressing and the tablet will shut off. At least thats how we shut ours off after installing LN. Works every time.

I'll bet you can't get HDX to work, but lmk either way please. As for the NP itself I'll pass along what everyone tells me when I say no apps work, "It's not Google's fault, its the app developer's fault, they gave up on it." Whatever the reason, its disappointing.

4.2.53.116291? Not for me. Same issue as always, try to play an HDX video and it "encounters problems during playback" and kicks me out. SD appears to play fine, as it previously did. But like before I can only play SD if I own it in SD. Anything HDX theres no way to switch to SD (Watch...

Post Vudu on the Nexus Player

Had to update again (4.45) and now I can't even log in. Such a shame that people can sideload the same apk on Fire TV and it works fine.

Post Vudu on the Nexus Player

I'm guessing no one is even interested in this anymore? I didn't use Vudu on the NP in ages but it did previously work with the version above. Unfortunately I had to update and now its back to not working, encounters a problem during playback. Can't even get it to play in SD as it force...

Post Vudu on the Nexus Player

Just about gave up on this but just installed the latest Vudu Android TV app (4.1.21.51938) and it appears to work on the Nexus Player. lmk if you or anyone else finds the same.

Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

If you figure out which older version of the app works please post. In the meantime I may try and install some of the older versions of the Vudu app I have found. Some have versions for both "arm" and x86" architecture. I assume the former is the one to use? And as for screen size, people...

Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

That's my thought, not a hardware issue. My wife was travelling and I wanted her to be able to watch some movies. A tablet screen is small (the HD+ is pretty large as tablets go, no?) but its nice to have the option when mobile. If I was more proficient I'd install CM11 to see if the Vudu app...

Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

That's a bummer. Vudu's line is the app isn't compatible with the hardware on the HD/HD+, which I don't think is true. Huge Vudu library and can't watch it on my tablets :( (I can watch it through their website with a Flash enabled mobile browser but not what I was hoping for).

Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

Thanks for checking. I'm always relieved when its not just me with an error but based on my conversation with Vudu and my limited knowledge of the situation I'm not very hopeful it gets resolved. What incompatibility could there be with what is a now generic Android tablet running a current...

Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

Longshot but I am wondering if anyone who has modded their Nooks with this has installed the Vudu app and been able to log in to their account? Vudu app installs seemingly fine from the Play Store on both my HD and HD+ with 7.1.2 but I can't log in to my account on either. I get "login failed"...

Post Vudu on the Nexus Player

The current Vudu apk works fine on his Amazon Fire according to a friend but I'm not sure which gen he has. Even though its useless I still have it on the NP and I just logged in fine. Love the irony of the message: "Success! You're now ready to enjoy VUDU on your Android TV device. blah...

Post Vudu on the Nexus Player

Recently with the current version? When I did it a few days ago I could log in fine. Just couldn't play anything without it crashing. Very frustrating that the same apk works on the Amazon Fire TV, Shield, Mii Box and probably many others. But not on Google's own Android TV player...

Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

Just finished installing on my HD+, about three months after doing it on my HD. Everything seemed to go just fine. Have had the HD+ for so long I lost a bunch of apps, mostly from Amazon's free app of the day era. I can try reinstalling but the apps are so old I'm not sure how many will...

Post Vudu on the Nexus Player

What version of the Vudu app did you have on your NP that works? I tried several with no success (see below). I am seeing the same thing. I went back and installed older versions of the app and it did the same, crashed after a few seconds. Going further back (4.1.10 and 4.1.7) and the app...

Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

Did you read my post on page 1? If you are having the same issue as me, selecting the Nook's "Power Off" option doesn't work, the tablet powers back on. You have to long hold the power button and the tablet will power off and stay off.

Post [HOW TO] Installing LN14.1 Internally on Nook HD+

I did this on my Nook HD yesterday. Everything seemed to go correct, however my tablet will not power off. If I power off it immediately restarts. I saw a similar problem mentioned with another build but can't seem to find the thread that was referenced. edit: I found this thread...
