There's no need to to do it, but it dramatically improves the performance.

I downgraded to 5.4 from 5.6, you can do it using the guide on here somewhere, think it's the in fire 8 subforum but works fine. Just do that, then run this tool.

I would have thought of you have a faulty emmc chip every time you wipe or write to it you increase the chance of a brick? I could be wrong, I don't know exactly how emmc wipes data, but if it reallocates or zeroes it over then it would logically increase the risk. I'm a relative novice with...

Great news. I love cm10.2 (esp pie controls), but the wifi bug makes it unusable. Having carbon with pie controls & no wifi bug with trim would be great.

Does that have auto trim with the trim kernel? If not, will running the trim command in terminal work with the trim kernel & the 19/11 nightly?

You fixed the cm10.2 wifi problems? If so, you mind sharing how? I've had to revert to cm10.1 cos it's so bad, just doesn't retain wifi after a sleep or reboot & need to restart the router to get it back.

It shouldn't be an issue at all. There's a stock recovery image in here & a stock rom also, so you can simply reflash those & return it. John Lewis (I'm in the UK too) will barely look at it, they really are fantastic with returns.

That's normal, not all widgets can be used on the lockscreen.

If the faulty emmc chip leads to a brick it simply won't boot at all, so they won't know why it happened & will honour it if under warranty.

That's the riskiest way of doing it though, isn't it? I'd prefer to do it with the patched trim kernel.

So, I'm back on cm10.1.3 stable thanks to the really annoying wifi bug. What's the easiest way to use trim, step by step? I know I'll need to be in cm10.2 to do it, but unsure how to d it without reflashing each time.

Instead of using the nandroid backup (as you may have backed up the fault), try a complete fresh clean install of cm10.1.3. Double check everything, especially Gapps version, first. Then once you've flashed it don't tick 'allow Google to update/sync apps'. That way if an app is causing the...

I'd personally concentrate on getting the most stable release cm10.1, working properly, before trying to iron out bugs that could well be image related in cm10.2 releases so unfixable. If it were me, if go back to square one. Full wipe & clean install of cm10.1.

Just sideload them from somewhere like aptoide. You've paid for them so it's not exactly piracy! Not in my eyes anyway!

The patch is a kernel patch, still in testing, but the trim only works on a particular cm10.2 fw. The details are in the trim thread. It's still not regarded as 100% safe cos it's not been tested enough.

Does anyone know what's causing it? I'm not using cm10.2 on my sgs2 cos there's a few other bugs & now dedicated developer for the device currently so don't seem worth it, so can't check if it's an issue on that. Anyone know if this was bug is an issue on other devices on cm10.2?

My nook hd+ has just done the same thing with wifi. Connection dropped, rebooted & it came back, dropped again, rebooted & nothing. So I switched it off to do other things & then noticed the wifi on my wife's & my phone had gone down. Had to reboot the router. Could be a coincidence but...

The brickbug app is not checking for the mag2ga chip as being faulty as that's not what it was designed for.

I spoke to soon. Now having wifi problems for last half an hour. Reboots fix it occasionally, but not every time.
