Why would SD backup/restore be useful? Select Restore from the menu to get your old emoji back.

I might have to go with this solution in the absence of a better one. An idea I had would be to query for the list of installed packages, and check for a Samsung-specific one. If it's there it's a Touchwiz rom, and if not, it's AOSP. I'll look through a system dump soon, but if anyone knows a...

But that would also be true for AOSP roms, as the manufacturer is still 'samsung'. Build.prop might be a good idea though. Could anyone send me a stock build.prop from a Samsung S6/S7/Note 5?

Anybody know the best way to detect if the device is running a Samsung 6.0+ rom? I need to be able to differentiate stock/stock-based software from AOSP-based roms, so I can apply a fix for Marshmallow on Samsung.

Unfortunately I can't add the new emoji to the keyboard with just a font update (which is what this app does). It'll take an update to Android to add those. Installing the iOS 9.1 emoji will let you see them when people on iOS 9.1 send them (as well as on the web).

It's probably still going. (I gotta add a progress bar!) It's a huge download, ~60MB.

The problem with the app on Android 5.1 is indeed the lack of space on the /system/ partition. I need to find a way to fix this cleanly, but haven't come up with anything. Any suggestions?

Would you mind me asking why? All of the sets that were previously in the app are still free to use, so nothing has been taken away. I'm a college student trying to get a little money on the side from this app, since it's become pretty popular. Is asking for the price of a chocolate bar that unfair?

Yep, it's in the app's data directory. There's a button to restore it from within the app, but if that doesn't work for whatever reason, check the app's internal storage.

Yep, it's hitting the Play Store now.

And it's out! Emoji are now fetched from a list online. I plan to add more. New packs may cost a buck or two, but the existing ones will stay free forever.

I'm alive! Sorry, have been very busy lately. This is not abandoned, I promise. I'm currently working on separating the emoji fonts from the app, and making them downloadable instead. Any recommendations for a file host or service?

APKs are on GitHub, but you'll only get updates with the Play Store version. They're exactly the same though.

Sorry guys, but I've tried and tried to get HTC's color emoji extracted, but no luck. I think they purposefully made them difficult to get (which they're well within their rights to do, as they are copyrighted.) Unless someone figures out how to extract them, no HTC emoji can be added. Next...

Thanks for the report, I missed something in the copying logic. Could you get me a stack trace? Even with the mistake, setting new emoji should still work.

Working great now, thanks! Here's a possible UX improvement: While the subtitles are still loading from the network (it can take quite a bit with a big list), show a loading spinner over the subtitle icon in the action bar, rather than just not showing the subtitle icon until they're loaded...
