I wanted to be sarcastic because it supposedly "fixed some known bugs". And what's crucial phone bug is that you couldn't fix it. Because PE ROM is used by people who are unable to install openGapps on their own. Each ROM class is better than PE, you just have to put GAPPS on them. All right...

I think the daemon checks the battery capacity and since it is not 100% full it starts charging. In such cases, the percentage of total capacity would have to be changed, which would deceive the daemon, which would assume that the charge is complete, for example at 80 percent.

For me working perfectly the smart charging on Redmi Note 5A phone, on Android 10. This send 1 or 0 to /sys/class/power_supply/battery/charging_enabled. Charging off, charging animation and led off. Faultless.

You may not turn on smart charging on Setting-Battery? For this, you can set the percentage of charge to turn off the charge. 20 to 80 percent are said to be ideal. Allegedly.

If not need any app (not system app), go to in TWRP, and find apps and rename. E.g.: Rename Camera2.apk to Camera2.apk.bak. Before rename launcher app set new launcher app. This way, you don't even need to install an unnecessary uninstaller.
