Suddenly, I see no history for any downloads to the A500. Also, during (after) the download, I get a text box with a choice of [open] or [dismiss]. With a file manager I can see the files are in the download folder. I've already cleared the data and the cache, so... any suggestions?

I found a Mobil-IT "Ultimate Travel Essentials" Netbook Caddy, at Office Depot that works very well. The only problem is that it may be discontinued now...

I just ordered a Spider E-Series to try out, along with an Arkon stand. Figured that for 36 bucks it was worth a try, even though one of the two Amazon reviews wasn't all that great. Newegg, OTOH, had four out of four good reviews (although they were for iPhone and Win 7 use). We shall see...

So... where does one find this charger?

The A500, for me, is an expensive gadget. However, it's a gadget that I'll be keeping. USB host mode on a tablet, with NTFS support? What's not to like?

Case Logic PDVS 4 holds the reader plus accessories, with a seperate neoprene sleeve for the NC.

I bought mine specifically to root, and for one reason: the ability to carry technical documents, and to be able to edit them. Since then, I've found the NC strengths to be the above, plus simple web browsing, calendar/appointments, gmail, RSS, and News feeds. The major drawbacks, IMO, are...

Correct. My original post was for the cats that might not know that already, and that might want/need tethering now. Man, when bluetooth is figured out, that's going to be really sweet.

B&N has made no such claim about Google market. In fact, they have stated that the NC will remain "reader-centric" with access to a B&N Market. As for me, the NC does what I need a tablet to do. I don't need gps, camera, or microphone, although Bluetooth would be nice.

I prefer using the NC without a case, so I have the B&N Aalto Cover for protection. For travel it fits nicely in one of these, and the upper portion has enough room for your charging cables, etc.

Some phones will already tether to the NC without bluetooth, and without having to resort to manual adhoc/infrastructure switching. For some reason, Droid X comes to mind... ;)

And, let's set the record a little straighter... B&N actually hinted that the upgrade and app store would most likely come in Q1 2011, not in January.

Asus EeePC with touchscreen mod, 10.2" nav screen, music thru the MP3 input to my SUV stereo system, mounted in my home-built Ford Explorer stand = Bigger Magic!!! Plus, it runs DeLorme's Street Atlas and Topo USA, which are killer NAV apps! I'm just sayin'... :D But, I'd like to see what...

This sums up my experience as well. It's worth it just for the fingerprint protection.

Step One: Try another uSD card.

IIRC correctly , the hardware is by Inventec (Taiwan). As far as problems, none... nada... zero... zilch with mine, nor have I had problems with either of the "classic" Nook ereaders that we have.

To answer the original question, the default reader is a stripped-down version of QuickPDF. I've installed Documents to Go and use that reader.

I've tinkered with Linux in the past, and bought my first Android phone in October (Droid X). I also already had an e-ink Nook, so when the NOOKcolor came out, it was a perfect match for me.

Same here. I wonder how many people with problems don't run as Administrator or use a dedicated card reader.

How many of you guys recommending underpowered chargers actually have any electronics background?

Not as elegant or simple as using the Nook, but I use [email protected] Partition Manager (free, btw) and delete the existing partitions, then create a new one and format.

@kahibbi: Win7? Right click Winimage and run as administrator...

Use an internal card reader, if you have one. Right click on WinImage, then [Run as Administrator] and you should be good to go.

I predict that in 2011 Jobs will announce a new breakthrough in Apple engineering, and will release a 7" tablet. At that time he will also rename the two tablets; MINiPAD and MAXiPAD... I'm just sayin'... :D
