Post [Q] replace sdcard on WP7.5

I would stay away from the class 10's -- they have inconsistent troubles with many smartphones including reports of problems on the DVP. This is the one I used: (it's a class 4) Costs not even $20 on Amazon. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007KFXIDE/ref=oh_details_o02_s00_i00 Works beautifully.

Post Samsung Focus On Straight Talk w/ Working MMS

IIRC, HTC has an App for setting your MMS settings, so you probably don't need to go through all this rigamaroll - at least thats what I remember from digging around forums trying to figure out my LG.

Thanks for the tips. I will definitely check out your guide for tethering, that is one of the features I was going to miss the most moving from Android.

Post Samsung Focus On Straight Talk w/ Working MMS

I don't think it was the underscore (though that might be part of it, who knows...) - I originally just renamed your Focus PROV file to match the format of the others on my Quantum (including an underscore) and as-is it didn't work for the Quantum - I had to pull the 310_410_ATT_ENG xml off the...

Post How to get MMS working on sim unlocked phones

NMRocket, I remembered your pain when I finally got MMS working today! The key was a new Provisional XML, I did have to build my own, but this one is based off of the one I found in this thread. I've attached it. It works! MMS. 3G. Woohoo! Going to build a full guide for the people out there...

Post Samsung Focus On Straight Talk w/ Working MMS

Oh goodness gravies... Thank you so much for this post. It's been a month laboring over my wife's LG Quatum - it was your post that finally put enough pieces together so that I could get MMS to finally work. I had to modify a few steps for the LG, build my own XML, so I plan to write a separate...

Thread [Q] Going to sell my Evo Shift - What steps should I take?

Hi Guys I've finally decided to leave Sprint due to lack of coverage in my area. I already am in the process of moving to a GSM network and am close to the point where I want to actually sell my year-old EVO Shift. I've never sold a CDMA phone before, when I sold my Milestone, I just pulled the...

Post [q] how far from permanent root??

Seems to me our best bet is to pray that HTC will unlock it themselves through their new policy change and HTCdev.com - but they still haven't announced that the Shift will be receiving the same "official" unlock as the Evo and 3D. I'm notably bummed. One of the major reasons I left behind my...

Post HTC EVO Shift 4G Getting Gingerbread 2.3 OTA Starting June 20th

I updated today, my Shift wasn't rooted (yet). I noticed the Android build is only 2.3.3, kind of a bummer, means it's missing a significant security exploit fix made in 2.3.4. The Sense-ized version of 2.3 is not awful. It's not stock and it's not CM7, but I think it's tolerable for now...

    Post N64 emulator?

I have had fairly good success running N64oid on a CM7 Nook Color OC'd to 1.2ghz. Can't give you a frame rate but Goldeneye, Starfox and Mario 64 all run smooth enough. (Sometimes it lags during cut scenes). I've also tried Perfect Dark and Rogue Squadron, but those won't even open on the newest...

    Post Excellent Case - JavoEdge

I have the same case (tweed version) and honestly don't like it at all. Functionally it's fine, but I hate how the edges that wrap around the screen are just slightly too small and so they don't stay square, but instead balloon out.. Also sticking anything other than loose sheets of paper in the...

I have this as well. It is gone if I change the DPI to 160, but as that borks a bunch of software I use, I can live with the line.

Post Explain the whole Wiimote thing to me.

As of right now, the only Nook ROM that supports Bluetooth is CyanogenMod7...so keep that in mind. Might change in the future but if you're not willing to switch to CM7, probably something to consider before buying peripherals.

Post [Q] Wireless Webcam For NC (Bluetooth)

Okay, that thing looks incredibly cool (albeit incredibly expensive, and incredibly silly), but as it's intended for first-person POV video recording--not video chatting--wouldn't it work better tethered to a smartphone anyway? I can't imagine sporting that ridiculous ear piece AND always having...

Post Why You Should Buy Official Nintendo Products For Your Android

Any BT keyboard is going to [presumably] be fine as a keyboard. The problem I have with this non-Nintendo controller is that the Wiimote IME doesn't recognize the device ID of the attachment, so it doesn't know how to interpret the signals coming from it (even though it might be exactly the same...

Thread Why You Should Buy Official Nintendo Products For Your Android

After successfully getting a Wiimote to hook up to my Nook and emulators, I decided to order a classic controller so I could play SNES/PSX/N64 games. In a bought of cheapskatedness, I ordered a bootleg classic controller so I could save a whopping $5. One of those ones not officially branded by...

Bought this stylus last week, it arrived today: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004HBK4T0 DON'T BUY IT...it's terrible. Going to give it to my dad who's got an iPad and see if it works any better for him. I wish there was a way to combine the powers of a resistive touchscreen and a...

    Post Bluetooth GPS

The latest version of Google Maps will download and cache your route if you plan it in advance while on a WiFi connection, however, I haven't had a lot of success retrieving that cache once I get on the road...and usually end up re-downloading the map over my data connection. So the answer is...

    Post Bluetooth Keyboard?

Can't tell from the website, but that controller uses an RF dongle that attaches to the Wii instead of bluetooth. Nintendo must have the BT controller licensing locked down in proprietary-land or something, I dug all through the darkened alleys of the internet last night and couldn't find...

    Post Bluetooth Keyboard?

Don't mean to hijack the thread, I just really didn't want to open a new one for this. I'm not really looking for a full keyboard, but anybody have experience with bluetooth game controllers? Post [Q] Swype on NC with CM7?

I got this official response over the Swype forums: http://forum.swype.com/showthread.php?2905-Nook-Color-and-March-Update&p=14369#post14369 Even though I'm running CM7, it's not going to be able to license without an IMEI, which the Nook doesn't have. So.......that.

Post Can't get new version of Swype 2.29.71.20203 to work

My guess is that Swype's "DRM" has the names of supported devices hard-coded into it. Which for 1024x600, that's just the 7" Galaxy Tab right now, right? Didn't that ship with Swype in the first place? They'll probably never officially support the Nook until there's an open marketplace on the...

Post [Q] CM7 nightly Wifi issue. Unable to connect.

I had this same problem yesterday morning. What I had to do was forget my network's settings, turn off wifi, then go turn off my router, turn the Nook's wifi back on, let it sit for a few seconds, turn my router back on, then try to connect. Strange as it sounds, this actually worked.

Thread Funky Accelerometer: Hardware or Software Problem?

I'm noticing some laggy/inconsistent/jerky/damned-weird inputs from the accelerometer on tilt-heavy games like SpeedX. I'm willing to blame it on cheap hardware - after all, B&N probably never expected the accelerometer to be used for anything but detecting device orientation. But has it been...

Post Reasons to Wait on CM7

I reboot into CWM recovery using ROM Manager (for some reason the "recovery" option from the power-off reboot menu doesn't work) and install from there. ROM Manager doesn't give the option to just wipe the cache, instead it will only wipe everything or nothing.

Post FYI for those who bought a nc on ebay for $199

Damn, after reading all the responses, I'm guessing I got lucky! I bought one of the $199 Nooks (though very early in the promotion, during the two hour eBay "daily deal" on the 28th) and after reflashing to CM7 have been super happy with it. This has replaced all of the desire I had to buy a...

Post Reasons to Wait on CM7

As long as you don't wipe your data (though do wipe your cache) before reflashing, it should keep everything. It kept everything for me from v12 to v13, and then kept everything from v13 to v14. You should always double check the important stuff though. I have the same responsiveness problem...

Post Who did NOT put on a screen protector?

I just bought one of the "official" anti-glare protectors from a B&N store last night. They won't install it for you, I discovered. I found "Tank Hero" last night and have been really enjoying it. (running CM7, should work fine on Froyo though) - seems like it would be a cramped game on a smartphone screen but is great for the size of my NC. https://market.android.com/details?id=com.clapfootgames.tankhero

Post Reasons to Wait on CM7

I turn off WiFi when I'm not using it (you could use Tasker to have it automagically go off/on at sleep/wake) and battery life improved significantly. I'm guessing when wifi is on, a lot of background activity happens. But battery also isn't a big deal for me either. I probably use the thing...

Post Reasons to Wait on CM7

New NC user this week, I've been running CM7 on eMMC for about 48 hours (first nightly v12, now v13) and it's been very stable. DSP video is the major thing lacking. Flash is smooth (including Hulu). I am having some trouble with seeing my installed/purchased apps in the Market but there are...

Never tried it. Only used Nookie Froyo for about 30 minutes before going back to stock. I suppose as a last resort, if there's still bad video support by the time I need it, I can run an sd-only build of nookie from whatever microsd I've got my videos on. Good to know I've got options!

Post [INTRO] So you bought a NOOKcolor, now what? (aka - A Complete Idiots Guide)

I was one of those 11,000 new owners! Nookdevs.com has been my goto resource over the weekend. On Friday I started out with an SD-run build of Nookie Froyo and was mostly unimpressed so went back to stock and rooted. By Sunday I was pretty frustrated with B&N's crippled version of Android so I...

Post Who did NOT put on a screen protector?

I just canceled my invisibleShield order. I like it on my Droid, but I realized after reading this thread that it's kind of overkill. I've got a case for my Nook, and it's not like it'll be riding in a pocket with my keys. Going to try one of the anti-glare protectors, I like the idea of B&N...

    Post [Q] Original Milestone on T-Mobile 3G?

Speaking as someone who has the original European Milestone, I can tell you that NO, the 3G radio does not work on T-Mobile. I'm not certain if it's true or not, but my dealer told me that if I go into roaming on AT&T's towers, the 3G will work with them. I guess it depends one what frequency...
