Post [DEV][RC5] Team Nyx [Android 4.0.4] (ICSSGS)

With exception to the ill-fated GPS Samsung used in this device, I have NEVER had a phone work this well and this fast until I used this ROM on my Captivate. If the GPS worked well, I would keep this phone until I was forced to change. Unfortunately, as soon as I have the opportunity I will...

Post [DEV][RC5] Team Nyx [Android 4.0.4] (ICSSGS)

prior to this I was running Cognition which was the stock GB w/o the boat ware. When you pulled down the notification bar and this button toggled screen rotation. I thought it was the same button. Made for a few mind-boggling days until I had a few minutes to think about it and realized I was...

Post [DEV][RC5] Team Nyx [Android 4.0.4] (ICSSGS)

On the Power Control Widget, I thought the button with the two arrows in a circle was to toggle screen rotation on/off, but it toggles ActiveSync on/off. Was this meant to be this way? It was kind of funny because I hate screen rotation so I keep it turned off...then I thought ActiveSync was...

    Post Goodbye Nooksters!

I'll never understand the point of being so defensive when all the OP was doing was saying he's enjoyed his time in the Nook forums and thanking everyone for their time and efforts because he's moving on and won't likely be hanging out in here nearly as much. Doesn't seem like much of a...

Post [WIP] The Nook Color Backpack....

Well, I have most of my parts and the Sugru arrived a few days ago. I'm waiting on my second keyboard & case to come in (the one I'm gonna hack on). I would have made some more progress but I somehow ended up with pneumonia in July and now work is going to slow me down again. I'll see if I...

Post [WIP] The Nook Color Backpack....

I've started to amass quite a collection of parts and have an additional keyboard on order that I plan to hack on a little and figure out the best way to do this. I think I'm going roll with the stereo-to-mono amp and probably just use two speakers. It's not like you really get any stereo...

Post [WIP] The Nook Color Backpack....

For some reason I just don't care for the idea of putting velcro on my device. I don't know why, I just don't. I think when I'm done it will not be needed. It certainly would be the easy way to do it. Maybe that's why--I want something original and made to fit. I ordered some Sugru today to...

Post [WIP] The Nook Color Backpack....

I think I figured this out...I'm planning to use the headphone jack to be what holds in the top left corner of the Nook. I have ordered some super thin speakers and I have a couple ideas on an small amplifier for the audio. I have a portable Cyber Acoustics speaker I would like to disassemble...

Post [WIP] The Nook Color Backpack....

One obstacle with the keyboard/case I'm using is the clip on the left covers the earphone jack. I think it's more than enough there to drill a hole for it, I'll find out next weekend after vacation. BTW, the clips are very stiff but also VERY pliable so I was able to straighten them out and...

Post [WIP] The Nook Color Backpack....

Cost, especially since it's an experiment. If I wasn't trying to keep costs down, I'd just have something better than the NC ;) Not being rude, but just rather lazy, I explained my reasons for choice in my post--mostly due to functionality when I need it vs. convenience when I don't

Post [WIP] The Nook Color Backpack....

I bought this keyboard and it came today and works with the new USB Host stuff: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300571607720 This is the larger keyboard, almost as big as my regular laptop keyboard, made for a 10" tab. I couldn't see being any more productive with the...

Post [WIP] The Nook Color Backpack....

I have a few thoughts. 1. I might find time to make this into my obsession for a while, as much as this interests me. My degree is in electronic engineering and I'm a pretty crafty person so perhaps I can be of assistance. I will give it some thought and see if I can contribute. So busy...

    Post Touchscreen Issue While Charging

I have seen this behavior on phones when I attempted to use cheap chargers. I suspect the voltage was not within tolerance and it caused the problem, based on the testing that I did. If you are using the original charger that came with the unit, you should try to obtain a new one.

    Post [Q]Wifi stuck in "error"

When I have this issue, I toggle Airplane Mode and it seems to fix it. I'm running Serendipity 5.11 and sometimes WiFi does this or my MobileAP will not turn on. I used to reboot but then started playing around and figured out that toggling Airplane mode fixes it for me.

Post crappy workaround for slow wifi with ad-hoc networking (packet loss)

I'll try to get some more testing done in the next day or two, but I'm using Serendipity 5.11 on my Samsung Captivate and the Froyo MobileAP tether. On the Nook I'm running the Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.8. When I ping my phone from the nook, response times are all over the place...from 10ms...

There are more chemicals absorbed into your body faster than you can shake a nook at. C8 is likely being absorbed from multiple source as I'm typing this.

Thread [A] How I fixed missing Market apps with Customized Nookie Froyo

Seen this posted in the DEV thread so I thought I'd put it out where others could find it easily. After loading Customized Nookie Froyo 0.6.8 CWR, I could not find many apps in the Market. I had a difficult time...lots of things to "try", vague instructions, MarketEnabler didn't work, etc. I...

    Post [Q] Re-rooting my nook?

Good for the launcher but it returns in the apps. My biggest issue with it is when I'm typing I accidentally hit it constantly when I'm trying to REALLY type in landscape mode. Very annoying and frustrating.

Post [Q]Do YOU Flash To Stock?

It's sure as heck faster to flash to stock than to read through 1000's of posts to figure out if it's a good idea or not when I don't know as much about it...

Post [Q] USB Tether APP for Captivate Root Users

Install a 2.2 rom and use MobileAP, it's an infrastructure hotspot. I can even tether my Android tablet to it. I have used Cognition and now using Serendipity. Awesome. Simply awesome.

Post [Q] Wifi tethering: native android vs ATT?

Yes, AT&T *will* shut you down *and* hit you with an ETF for excessive data usage on an "unlimited" plan. For one, they call it abuse, but most precisely they pretty much say there's no way you're going to download 25gb or 50gb on a mobile device in a month or whatever the amount is so they are...

    Post [Q] ROM for Captivate.

Like you, I recently started trying to figure this out after getting an AT&T Captivate and I agree about the need for a better listing for features (or lack of) for each ROM. A good matrix to compare would be nice, but I fear there are so many people working on these things and it all moves so...

Post [Q] HELP::Problem With Charger and TouchScreen!

I tried several generic chargers from eBay on the iPhone and HTC Aria and results varied with this symptom, but most of them caused this type of issue. What I would see mostly was erratic responses from the screen while it was plugged in, i.e. the screen would jump around, scroll too far, other...
