The TWRP Retainer flash is used to stop OOS from wiping out TWRP. If you use OOS without Magisk, it will overwrite with stock recovery every reboot otherwise.

Info you are looking for is in the OP. You want Shadowstep's guide. https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75285158&postcount=2050 Section 1 has info if you want to understand why GCam needs very special versions made for the OP5/5T. Section 2 is good to read to understand what you...

yep would apply to all 3. The risk is low, but any time you are flashing your phone an unapproved way you are taking a risk (presuming you are still under warranty). It's a low risk if you are using well tested recoveries and know how to recover from a bad flash/corrupt system, but it's there...

Post GPS not working, even after a "hard paper" fix

The contacts may be busted. Neither NFC or GPS work on my N5 anymore. The contacts failed after the years of use/abuse. I didn't dig much deeper into fixing it than just confirming the problem as I only use my N5 as my snowboarding phone/media player.

My wife and I actually went from having occassional bluetooth issues connecting to our cars to it being rock solid a while back, probably the same update. Bluetooth between cars and phones has always been a mess in my experience, I've always assumed the cars aren't following the BT standards...

    Post Google Camera

None work flawlessly, and unless OP makes some changes it won't be possible to have a fully functional GCam without system changes (root or at least an unlocked bootloader would be required). The camera library files from OP are 'customized' in ways that make them not fully compatible with the...

    Post Ringke Fusion DIY Template

I've not done this for my Op5 yet, but for previous phones I found using photo paper well worth the results. It's easier to cut cleanly, holds up extremely well to being taken in/out, and the gloss finish behind the case looks like it's actually part of the case. You can get 100 packs of photo...

Post [ROM][LOS15.1][8.1.0] DARK ROM BETA [Pixel features][04/16]

Hammerheadcaf and Hammerhead are the same device, just with and without updates from Code Aura Forum. We really should be calling them hammerheadcaf and hammerheadaosp, and stock images from Google would be the only actual hammerhead builds.

Post [ROM][LOS15.1][8.1.0] DARK ROM BETA [Pixel features][04/16]

Dark updated hammerheadcaf to pass SafetyNet about a month ago. Hammerheadcaf typically offers better battery life and better performance. Having to migrate from the non-caf build is the only reason I can think you'd not be switched over now.

Post [ROM][LOS15.1][8.1.0] DARK ROM BETA [Pixel features][04/16]

Thanks! I extracted it from the standard Lineage build and was fine with using an init.d script to keep it in place. I only even noticed it was missing thanks to all the winter weather advisories this week in the States and my work phone (POS iPhone 5C) alarmed but personal didn't. And it...

Post [ROM][LOS15.1][8.1.0] DARK ROM BETA [Pixel features][04/16]

Looks like CellBroadcastReceiver.apk is missing so we don't get tornado, winter weather, amber alerts, or any other safety advisories. It's in the stock LineageOS from looking at the repo, so I'm curious if this was removed on purpose for some reason or on accident? It's able to be disabled from...

    Post [KERNEL][N5] FrancoKernel - r115 - 2nd November - Stock & Oreo

SafetyNet - R102 On r101 I pass SafetyNet (all tests passed/green in test), but fail on r102. Tried it twice, but could still just be me being an idiot of course. Can anyone confirm for me? Using CM14.1 unrooted.

Post [ROM][OFFICIAL] LineageOS 14.1 for Nexus 5 (hammerhead)

Newer versions use a newer API that our driver doesn't have support for. People have been attempting to build a wrapper/work around for it, but I've not seen anything released yet. Unless Qualcomm feels like releasing an update for us, we're likely stuck at 3.2 for good.
  17. S

Post [ROM][LOS15.1][8.1.0] DARK ROM BETA [Pixel features][04/16]

The issue is certification. To pass SafetyNet there are multiple checks we can account for. No root? Easy. Locked bootloader? Only able to be checked on newer devices, so it can either be passed or faked in the kernel easily. CTS Certification? This is the killer. To receive certification...

Post [ROM] [6.01][MOB30M][07/06/2016] xTraFactory Odex - Super Stable - xTreme Battery

If heavy customization is your goal then (not accounting for xposed) XtraSlim/Smooth isn't the right ROM for you. This is focused on being a Google-like experience with a few tweaks mixed in that are transparent to the user to enhance the stock function. Carbon or CM would be better for you if...

Post [ROM] [6.01][MOB30M][07/06/2016] xTraFactory Odex - Super Stable - xTreme Battery

The difference, if any is measureable, would be found more in the lack of occasional jitter. Somebody would need to screen record for a week on each and go through all those frames to know for sure they were doing a fair test. I take the stance of even if the benefit is 0-1%, it isn't a...

    Post [UNOFFICIAL] Systemless Xposed for Android 5.1/6.0 - v86.1 / 20160928 / SDK22/SDK23

To take it as an OTA update you have to restore back to a previous factory image, but with a newer factory image available that is pointless. This is also true for FK. If anyone told you otherwise, they either misunderstood something or were simply wrong. (All of this assuming an unlocked...

Post [UNOFFICIAL] Xposed Regarding Samsung ROMs on Lollipop

More appropriately put, they have tweaked it. They probably built in some extra code relevant to the Samsung apps and had to tweak the runtime for it. Until Rovo knows exactly what those tweaks were in order to account for them problems will exist.

Start by trying another dirty flash of the latest nightly, as that doesn't seem to be a prevalent problem making it less likely to be the updates fault. Otherwise when going backwards best bet is usually to wipe system, flash stable, then flash nightly update generally.

    It's more likely hardware still.
