Post How safe is to do a manual update?

I've manually updated my MediaPad 5 8.4 (SHT-AL09) every time a new update is released. I'm currently running variant c432 and rom version 8.0.0.191. I use the procedure I posted several months ago: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77177717&postcount=4

I upgraded the firmware on my M5 SHT-AL09 from 163 to 172 using the same procedure as I previously outlined in post #4. I found out that this procedure only works with the full version of the firmware. I first tried running the OTA version. It failed at about 15% of the way through the...

Post How to install Android pie with unlocked bootloader?

For me it did not take long for the Pixel to start after boot. Maybe a minute or two. It did take 5-10 minutes to run the Pie update. Maybe it was because I originally installed Magisk 16 before going to version 16.7. I agree with post-mortem's suggestion. It will be easier for you to...

Post How to install Android pie with unlocked bootloader?

I fastboot flashed the 9.0 files on top of the July 8.1 version without a data wipe. I had to reinstall TWRP and Magisk using the same install procedure I used on 8.1. Even though root was successfully working on Magisk 16 I had to install beta version 16.7 for the SafetyNet check to work...

I had no issues installing the 9.0 factory image over the 8.1 July update without the data wipe option. I reinstalled TWRP 3.2.2.0 using its install procedure. I needed to upgrade Magisk 16 to the beta version 16.7 in order to get the SafetyNet check to work properly. So far no issues to...

You are correct. The Chinese version of the MediaPad M5 8.4 provides the LTE bands supported by AT&T. Make sure the seller converts the firmware from Chinese to European version (C432) so that when you receive the tablet it is in English and Google Play play is installed. As true for all...
