Just download the nougat ROM from Wileyfox, they will send you a link if you ask them. Then you can flash boot and system (and if you like all other partitions and radios) and it will then be on nougat and working correctly. Scott

Looks like my new phone has the fault as well. Something causes the phone to use 2% per hour over and above normal use. Probably a sensor stuck on and using power. I will return this phone as well and give up on Wileyfox. Scott

Thanks for the reply. I returned my phone and got a new one. Old one drained 2% an hour. The new one drained 1% in 7 hours last night. So I think the old phone was faulty. Hopefully the new one doesn't develop the same fault. Scott

Hi, Re the GPS/location icon. I noticed the same issue. Seems to happen if the location is on 'device only'. Switching to one of the other location modes and rebooting 'fixes' the problem. Scott

Clearly that is not the GPS bug. Read the thread rather then jumping to conclusions. For a start the GPS bug means roughly 1.5% per hour drain.

Why don't you do some tests with active display on/off and let us know how it affects battery.

Leaving the bootloader unlocked can be a potential security issue, you can Google it to find out why. I believe if your phone was stolen it makes it easy for the thief to access your data. However I never relock mine as if my phone was stolen the first thing I would be doing is changing...

Hi,I meant for your first attempt at flashing back stock when your bootloader was OK. CM is just a new system image, you didn't need to even attempt to reflash a bootloader. Even just using twrp to restore the system image alone would have got you back to stock.

It won't help you now, but technically all you needed to do to get back to stock was flash the system image files (and maybe the kernel if CM comes with its own kernel). You didn't even need to attempt to flash anything else. Its OK following guides but be aware that they aren't fool proof.

So if its not a defect it means its supposed to be like that. To me it looks like it was done on purpose due to the location of the light. So agree with the poster a few posts back.

Power off option is all you get with lollipop. Its normal - another stupid decision from Google. However I don't think reboot was an option on KitKat either, but aeroplane mode was.

Read (Google) one of the thousands of threads on how to root any older moto g, it will be the same as long as you have a custom recovery that's compatible with 3rd gen.

Good question, seems pointless to have an 8GB model. People who need space will use SD card anyway. People who need less space surely need at least 16GB model. I plan to buy 16GB as I know its enough space for me, but 8GB is not. And why would I want just 1GB memory, may as well future proof...

Hi, it must be an app keeping the phone awake too much. Root the phone and install wakelock detector to see what's causing it. Its not WiFi or LTE that would be the cause alone unless you have the weakest signal known to man.

Of course 1GB is enough for that, otherwise how does everyone using an older moto g cope!! I'm still gonna get 2GB though ;)

This does NOT stop the drain for me I killed the two processes (did a 'ps' to find them in terminal and killed each by its PID). Drain continues. This is on android 4.4.4.

The drain happens once GPS has been used, never any other time. Earlier in the thread other users have noticed the battery pulling more charge once GPS has been used. No software issues are seen, ie phone sleeps as normal, no wakelocks.

No, I don't see that. If it were the case then the phone would also show as being awake in the battery stats which it doesn't. The drain also happens only when (and after) GPS has been used.

It does enter deep sleep and there are no wakelocks.

A few posts/pages back eemgee says he still had the drain on lollipop, not sure if that was stock lollipop or a custom ROM though.

Can you go yo wakelock settings and chose advanced mode and see what wakelocks show then.

Use wakelock detector app, it requires root. Charge phone fully and allow wakelock detector to capture stats for a few hours. Note that the GPS drain doesn't always happen, bug is hit and miss.

You need to figure out if this drain starts only once GPS has been used. Easiest is: 1. Switch off GPS and reboot. 2. Use as normal but do not switch on GPS. 3. Airplane mode overnight and see if drain happens. If it does then its not GPS. If drain doesn't happen then switch on GPS and use...

That's a real shame, I assume there were no wakelocks that could have caused the drain instead. Oh well, I'm not surprised its still broken.

I'm really keen to know if lollipop fixes it, I haven't updated yet. Can you do the normal test, so use GPS a lot then put phone in airplane mode overnight and see if it drains roughly 1.5% per hour. May take a few days to recreate the issue by playing with GPS so just being OK for one night...

I would think from what you describe that its a different issue. I can easily recreate my drain by using GPS, from that moment on I lose 1.5% per hour over and above what I normally use.
