i've used oxygen since gingerbread days and i've always liked how adam kept it simple and clean... so long as everything is working on his rom, do whatever it takes; including locking the kernel... if you dont like it, you can use other roms... or even start ur own rom using adam's github...

back in the GB days, i was using franco kernel with oxygen 2.1.4.. but i believe franco does not support older kernels...

for torch u could... u can slide down the notification bar on lock screen... meaning, if u insert torch button to the notification area, turn on screen to enter lock screen. pull down notification area. and turn on torch... u can off torch same way as well. hope thats what ur lookin for...
