    Post Display brightness

I was expecting variations across the display at low brightness setting. It's a AMOLED thing, we're told, and as an engineer I can see why the technical challenge exists. Having said all that, my display seems practically perfect even at low brightness. Although I tend to be easily annoyed by...

Which model of phone? Just tested on Mi 9t Pro, not experiencing this problem.

    Post Standby drain

Similar experience here with Mi 9t Pro; "phone idle" and "cell standby" seem low, no major issues with unexpected nuisance wakes during the night etc.

Post Differences between Redmi K20 and Mi 9T?

Mi 9t Pro has band 20. This is particularly useful in Europe where it is used extensively. Also I believe that Mi 9t Pro has Widevine L1 certification not present on K20. Important to some people.

    Post 4G stopped working.

At risk of stating the obvious, have you confirmed with another phone that you actually have a 4G signal? Similar has happened to me before when the nearby cell tower was under maintenance.

Post Proximity sensor doesn't work in call. Autobrightness sensor also glitch.

Why do Xiaomi seem to have such a problem with proximity sensors? The one on my Note 7 doesn't work properly and a google search reveals complaints about sensors on many models. It's not as if they are rocket science any more.

    Post Proximity sensor not working

I'm using the miui global 10.3.3.0 PFGEUXM and definitely have some "issues" with the proximity sensor. I'm still trying to tie down the exact nature of the problem: With a quick test, or doing calibration, it seems to work exactly as I would expect; the screen switches off as you approach...

Post VoLTE or WiFi calling working on Redmi Note 7?

Thanks for the reply. Hmm yes, that's what I expected, but icon is definitely not there. It's especially strange since I have definitely had VoLTE with the same SIM successfully on different devices. What do you make of my phone staying on 4G during a call, does that suggest VoLTE is actually...

Thread VoLTE or WiFi calling working on Redmi Note 7?

Using Redmi Note 7 Global version, 4G+64G, MIUI 10.3.2.0. VoLTE I entered *#*#86583#*#* and dialler confirms that VoLTE carrier check is disabled (test page 4636 also shows VoLTE provisioning is ON). On different phones using same SIM, same location, I see "HD" icon confirming "HD calling", or...

    Post Android Pie problems?

Just for reference, the double-tap-to-wake feature depends on the hardware build. I've seen several of these phones bought in UK and none had this "feature"

Post Any way to disable fast charge?

I wondered about this too. If you're not in a hurry (say, charging overnight) then maybe the slower charge will ensure optimum battery life. I find that using a long (2M), cheap charging cable prevents fast charge! That's understandable because the electrical resistance will be higher than a...

Post Xiaomi mi9 has dual gps, someone tested gps accuracy?

From my experience even the best conventional GPS can still occasionally get confused, especially around city (presumably due to "urban canyon" signal multipath effects). I'm very interested to see how well the Snapdragon implementation of dual-frequency GNSS (as in the Mi 9) actually works in...

Post Ugly scratch on the screen just days after removing the screen protector

Mine is entirely scratch-free even after many months of use. Of course, cheaper large-ape-flavour glass may have less consistent quality of hardening. Perhaps yours came from a bad batch?

Post Problems with microSD, SIM and sudden Reboots (Android 9)

I have had occasional problems with the SD card vanishing, even though it is used as "portable storage". I wonder if this could be a related problem? Rebooting the phone has always corrected the problem. I also often notice that when I wake the phone from sleep, there is briefly a notification...

    Post Standby drain

Is that 1% nightly loss with (or without) the measures you describe in 1-5 above? Since the Pie update, mine is consistently losing about 1% per hour (25% per day) just doing (apparently) nothing (few apps installed to sync). I've tried switching off 4G data, WiFi, Location, but curiously that...

Post Mi A2 Lite WiFi Calling?

I'm surprised that there is not more activity on this thread. WiFi calling is very convenient in poor signal areas but as you say it seems to be disabled on this phone. I'm now using A2 lite as my daily phone, VOLTE working great but lack of WiFi calling a real disappointment.

Yes, I had the same problem. In fact, every time I have done OTA update I get this problem. For me, factory reset has fixed it on previous occasions. I can only suggest to you to try it again. Update: For me, after a while using 20181010, I get return of "Sleep of death" seen by many owners: Tablet requires hard reset (very long button press) to awaken from sleep. I've tried a factory reset, problem gone away, but suspect may return in a few days like before.

I read someone on Chuwi forum, suggests that a factory reset fixes this issue. Can any experienced developers comment on com.adups.fota.MyApplication ? It has been suggested this is malware. Are Chuwi really allowing malware to be rolled out to this machine? Should we ignore OTA updates? Thanks.

It looks like the presence of the SD card induces this fault that can only be fixed with factory reset. I'd be interested in other folks opinions about this. Might it be fixed in software? I want to use SD card to store music and moves, but it's useless if it means factory reset every week!
