Android 9 supposedly has 'proper' in built notch support. Lets hope that solves the issue.

Post Hello Guys.. A few questions until my phone is bought:

I've just ordered the Lite from Amazon. I've had an A1 for 2 days, but it seems broken so is going back. Main reasons for not going full A2 are the battery, I have a million micro USB cables, and the size. I don't need a top end phone, so for £155 and Google One, the lite is a total bargain.

    Thread USB Issues

Hi all, I've just received my A1 from amazon as a warehouse deal - got a very good price for one in 'used - acceptable' condition. No SIM tray, but one on the way from ebay. I have an issue though - the USB port only seems to work when the cable is plugged in and the phone restarted. If I then...

    Thread Easy update from MDA89E??

Very quick Q hopefully... Nexus 5x fresh out the box. Unlocked, rooted and added TWRP. All good, except I'm on MDA89E so need bringing onto the latest build, but don't want to wipe. Is there a TWRP flashable image, or do I have to go back to stock then reroot and put TWRP back?

Thread [Q] M preview + Google restore = no icons?

I have done a fresh install of M this morning, and google has restored all of my apps and setting. However, most icons on the home screen are appearing as the default android green droid. The icons look fine in the new style app drawer. Any idea how or if I can bulk update all of the home screen...

    Thread [Q] Android M - Google Apps ?

Sorry for the basic, but very quick, question. I will be installing M Preview 2 over the weekend. However, a review of the changes on Arstechnica.com suggests that it does not include any of the consumer facing apps yet. Can this be overcome simply by installing the GApps packages ? I'll be...

Thread [Q] Refusing to update - old 'user keys' ?

I have tried to flash the OTA update on my N5. I am running stock Lollipop, having flashed it over the top of 4.4.4. However, CWM complains that the device has the wrong keys - telling me that it expects LRX210 keys but its seeing 4.4.4 keys and therefore the update fails. Is there anything I...

Post Bluetooth Low Energy/Bluetooth Smart Heart Rate Monitors compatible with running apps

This looks like a good start... I am looking for an app that will capture the BTLE or ANT+ output from my new Mio Link when inthe gym. I could use my Forerunner 220 and ANT+, but then I get a cadence track from the internal sensor that I dont want and cant turn off. This then screws up the...

Thread [Q] Bluetooth stack vs samsung

Afternoon all. I love my N5 and am keen to stick with it - however I have an issue with Bluetooth. I am a keen runner and user a Garmin Forerunner 220 GPS. Post Result! USB Otg and Ethernet working

Mine is the Asix AX88772 - worked fine but I have to run netcfg eth0 up, followed by netcfg eth0 dhcp in a terminal app. All works fine, but not all apps will use the interface and I can't use it with a personal hotspot from the N5 :(

I'm impatient - so use it rather than wireless to transfer movie files from my server. Takes 5 mins rather than 30. Useful if I need to catch a train and have forgotten the night before.

Yes - ethernet working perfectly. Although some apps don't seem to see it. FX file manager is happy - so I use that for transferring data from my server.

    Thread Camera apk?

I always found the camera on my note 2 excellent - pic quality was good, but the best aspect was the almost instant focus and shutter response when you clicked to take a shot. In comparison, the N5camera is awful and almost unusable if there is any chance of movement - ie children! Does anyone...

You can do this with Google play music - you have to map a symbolic link from the data cache folder to a location on the external storage. Search about - plenty of links to how-to.

Thread [Q] Building the kernel with ethernet OTG support

All, The N5 looks excellent, and after fondling one in the local CPW in the UK today, I have decided to swap my Note2. One question - looking on AOSP, I cant see which kernel the N5 is running. Others have said 3.4 (thanks), but which build files do I need from...

Post [Q] Is this phone support USB OTG/HOST

Looks like it should from the various log file leaks etc. My main reservation will be the ability to get ethernet working OTG like with the N7. Got this working with my Note2 after building the kernel modules myself - hopefully the N5 will be precompiled, or easy to create too.

Post USB Ethernet support for Nexus 4?

Hi, I'm wondering about this too. I got it to work on my Note 2 by compiling the kernel modules and the using 'insmod' to load them each time I needed to.
